Wow, what a windy day we had yesterday. Fortunately, the wind was coming from the west so it was blowing most of the leaves from the trees by the shoreline right into the lake. A few less to clean up when we return in May!
Lots of small branches and twigs down too though. But this morning? Calm as can be.
Or it was...I just looked outside and the breeze is picking up a bit. We were hoping to get out for one more ride in the kayak, but I guess it won't be this morning. Maybe things will calm down again in the evening.
I bought our Rough Guide to Romania travel book yesterday. Just the electronic PDF version. We don't have any need to be carrying around the actual paperback book, plus the e-version is about half the price.
It's the brand new edition, supposedly with a release date of September 20th. Yes, tomorrow. But I noticed on the Rough Guides website that it was "now available", and sure enough the order went through. And, we receive it immediately with a download link through email. Now, we can do more travel planning!
Funny thing though...because it's an international website, Rough Guides will sell you your book in a choice of three currencies...USD, Euros, or GBP (Great Britain Pound).
So I did the exchange rate, and there was a $4 difference between the best and worst currency when exchanging the price into Canadian dollars.
So, I bought it in GBP, which came to $12.84 CAD.
Could have also bought it on Amazon.ca tomorrow here in Canada...for $13.99. So, I guess I saved a little bit!

Looks like you did safe a bit on your guide, good going.
ReplyDeleteGeorge you know us by now, we try to save on everything we buy! :-)
DeleteHuh - didn't realize the Rough Guide series included non-travel topics (Brain Training, Conspiracy Theories, Gospel Blues, etc)
ReplyDeleteHmm...I didn't know that either, maybe Kevin did but I think we will just stick to the travel guides! ;-)
DeleteI like the idea of the leaves ending up in the lake. That is my idea of yard clean up:)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, not enough of them ended up there! With any luck more will blow that way over the fall and winter and we will have a slightly easier time with our spring cleanup.
DeleteI don't know how far you are going to be able to explore but I would recommend the western-north-western part of the country ( Transylvania ) It was part of Hungary before the Trianon Treaty and it's simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping to travel as much of the country as we can but we are definitely going to be going to the Transylvania area. When we are in that area I think we will rent a car for a week or so just so we can travel more independently and see even more. It certainly does look beautiful!
DeleteYou must be counting the days now for your exciting trip. Have you been there before? Looking forward to reading all about it.
ReplyDeleteWe have been counting the day for a while now!
DeleteNo, we have not been there before so it will be a great adventure. :-)
