No Mexico this winter...

This winter will be the first time in seven years that we don't spend at least part of the season in Mexico. Originally, when we were with our traveling companion Whiskey, we were confined to North America.

But there is a whole big world out there, and we want to see it all.

So since Whisky passed away in the fall of 2011, we have tried to go to at least one different country every year. But even though we have done that, we have always returned to Mexico at least at some point in the season.

Even when we spent four months in southern Africa, Mexico was calling us back and we returned there to end the season.

But not so this time!

Which means there won't be any Mexico at all in 2017, because we don't plan to return there until January of 2018.

And after that, all bets are off.

We want to go off and RV in Australia for six months, and we want to tour South East Asia for six months. I mean, although we love Mexico, what if there is something better out there? We don't know until we see it for ourselves.

And then of course there is all of South America...we've only been to Colombia. So many more countries to discover. Oh, and more of Central America and the Caribbean. And the Philippines. One of the guys here at the park goes to the Philippines during the winter. Says he's going to move there. And we know someone else who loves the Philippines. So we want to check it out!

So, while Mexico will always be in our hearts...we don't see ourselves spending as much time there over the next seven years as we did in the past seven years.

  1. I know how you feel. I love Mexico, could easily live there (hubby loves it but doesn't want to live there) but also want to see the world. Especially at this point in our lives when we can only be away a maximum 12-14 days at a time with the business I think we have to spend our travel time on new adventures.

    1. We could easily see ourselves living in Mexico but without traveling to other countries how would we know if it was the best place to live or not. It is possible that we could find somewhere even better. It is surprising how many people find the "perfect" place their first year out and never leave, yet there might be an even better "perfect" place further down the road.

Hopefully you will be able to have more time away soon but at least you are getting out there and exploring. :-)

  2. Nice that you have the desire and to travel. As long as we keep moving around we are happy looking for warm weather.
I know you will enjoy those places like you always do.

    1. Yep, moving around even if it isn't too far a distance helps alleviate the hitch-itch syndrome.

    1. Nope, not yet! We can see him possibly doing more motorhome exchanges though. What better way to explore other countries like Australia or New Zealand than in an RV. :-)

  8. For some reason I thought you were going to be involved in a caravan to the Yucatan in early 2017?

    1. No that isn't until January 2018. The guy in charge of the planning is going down this winter to check out a route and places to stay in preparation for the new caravan route in the Yucatan for 2018.

    1. I know Chris, we sort of feel that way too when we think of not going to Mexico this winter but we are also very excited to be going somewhere different.
