But we did...so now we'll make up for it today!
Allan and Brenda are regular campers here at the park, and they invited us out on their boat for a couple of hours. It was a nice afternoon, and we looked at each other and said "sure, let's go!".
Other than a couple of short rides in our kayak, we hadn't been out on the lake at all this year.
Nice day for a boat ride.
Brenda and Ruth.
A golden eagle we spotted.
He landed on this hill.
We'd like to go for a hike on that side some day.
Enjoyable couple of hours on the boat. Thanks Allan and Brenda!
Still managed to get quite a lot done yesterday though. Got the water system shut down and the pump stored away. Another guy will come later in the week with a big commercial compressor to blow the lines out so they don't freeze. Power washed the engines on the equipment, and on Friday (when it's raining) I'll change the oil and filters. Today, I'll winterize the other three washrooms, and put up some of the beaver fence.
We slept in the motorhome last night! Only four days to go...!

Need a new sewer hose? The RhinoFlex hose has come way down in price...never been this cheap! Check it out...
I don't understand why they're not this cheap here in Canada. Ours is now 8 years old, and I would buy another one if I could get it for that kind of money. But it's too expensive in Canada. I just don't understand why it's so much more here!
I love being on the water - great choice to ditch the work, you guys will make up the time :)
ReplyDeleteIt was nice out there and a bonus of having great company to be with. We did work extra hard the next day though.
DeleteOttawa is in the midst of 4 lovely days with the temp. up to 26. Much cooler weather is expected this weekend!
ReplyDeleteOf course you mean 26C, which is 79F.
DeleteIt's not like it's your "first rodeo", so you have a good handle on what has yet to be done. Never a bad time to accept a boat ride.
ReplyDeleteThat is very true and things are going along much quicker than we thought they would. Looking back it was time well spent! :-)
DeleteLooks like a great swimming and boating lake and would love to have that lake in our backyard. We can boat on the upper Ashley River at the back of our house, but can't swim there anymore because lots of alligators have moved in; that is because the state of SC is now protecting the gators, except for hunting them one short period each year. Now, I think there are too many of them. I sent you an e-mail which my son Todd forwarded to me of the results of the hunt near my dock yesterday. You may share the picture and e-mail if you wish. And Croft and Norma think they have problems with deer!! I'll take that problem any old day! (LOL)

It is definitely a great boating lake when it has enough water in it, at least at our end of the lake. This lake is 140 miles long and we are near the beginning of the lake so it is a little shallower than it is further down the lake. Swimming is good to but it can be cool and the water isn't clear. We definitely don't have alligators to worry about though!!!
DeleteYes, I can understand you wanting to deal with Croft and Norma's deer rather than the alligators that you have.
All work and no play (you know the saying) nice that you made some time for yourselves. Soon, on the road again.
ReplyDeleteIt seems lately that we are making up with a little play time that we didn't get all season when it was all work.
DeleteNot much longer now and we will be on our way again with more adventures.
A great thing about that boat is you do not have to paddle:)
ReplyDeleteNope you don't and you get travel a further distance in a shorter time too! ;-)
DeleteI saw the hose in Camping World the other day and it was $42.00 that's American so amazon has a good deal.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear Wendy! Kevin usually knows a good deal when he sees one. :-)
DeleteSee you soon.
