Change of plans...

Had an email yesterday from our couchsurfing host in Bucharest (we arrive next Wednesday) saying that they've had a problem with the heating in their house and that it won't be fixed until November 4th.

She said we were still welcome to stay with them if we were prepared to put up with some cold in the house. The temperature in Bucharest right now has highs around 10C (50F).

But it would be better to be warm indoors, so we decided to find another place. She did say that we would be more than welcome to stay with them when we return to Bucharest at the end of our trip.

There are quite a few couchsurfers available in Bucharest, but not lots that suit our tastes. We like to have our own private bedroom, and we prefer a non smoking household. There are a lot of smokers in eastern Europe!

Anyhow, I've sent out two more requests, but haven't heard back from them yet. Doesn't everybody check their email at least once a day?? I guess not.

Not a big deal because there is lots of suitable inexpensive accommodation available in the big city. And lots of AirBnb's as well. Something will come together.

Only five days until we leave, so I've started getting Sherman (our motorhome) ready for his hibernation. We're still sleeping in the motorhome, but it's getting chilly. It was down to -2C (29F) last night. We are plugged in to Lindsey's electric though and we have a small electric heater going at night.

The new spark plug wires had arrived so I changed them yesterday. As well as new spark plugs. Nice to be working in the relative heat even though it's cold outside.

Before.

After.

Look at those fancy yellow plug wires! Sherman is raring to go now. Too bad he won't be able to try them out until next October.

While I was doing that, Ruth, Lindsey, and the grandkids went for a walk.

Sadie and Cameron.

Cameron and Lindsey.

Baxter Conservation Area.

A walk in the forest.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today. Definitely have to get out for a walk myself, so maybe we'll see if there's anything new to see in the area.

  2. Good thing you have long arms to reach those spark plugs. Haven't had to try that yet.

    1. Yep, a couple of them are a bit hard to get at! And I notice this morning that it's a little bit hard on the back of the legs too!

  6. Oh that picture of your engine brings back memories of my job working at a GMC truck dealer years ago. I don't miss the skinned knuckles at all! :c)

    1. When Kevin finished the job he mentioned that he only ended up with on scrap on his arm/hand so he felt pretty good about that.
