Many of you suggested Croatia, and Turkey and of course we really want to go to those places eventually. But logistically, it was going to be too expensive and the flight back to Morocco didn't line up well at a decent price.
So...here's where we're going...
After our two month motorhome tour, we will drop the RV back to it's owners in Alicante, Spain. From Alicante, the best choice for us was a flight to Milan, Italy on March 9th with Ryanair. We included one checked bag, and the rest will fit into carry on. Total price for the two of us including the checked bag was 64 euros ($92 CAD, $69 USD).
Alicante, Spain to Milan, Italy.
From Milan, we will travel down to Cinque Terre National Park area on the Italian Riviera and then we will spend three weeks taking our time from there through to Monaco, and Nice, France.
From Nice, we will fly to Marrakesh, Morocco on March 30th.
We booked a flight with easyJet. Total price for the two of us was 72 euros ($103 CAD, $76 USD). Yep, that's for both of us!
Nice, France to Marrakesh, Morocco.
We will spend 15 days making our way from Marrakesh to Tangier by land. Then on April 14th we will fly from Tangier back to Barcelona in time for our April 15th flight back to Canada.
We booked with Vueling for 93 euros ($133 CAD, $98 USD) for the two of us.
Tangier, Morocco to Barcelona, Spain.
Funny how the shortest flight was the most expensive...but, that's just the way it worked out.
So, that's exciting.
Now that's set up. We arrive in Barcelona a week from today, so I guess I had better find us somewhere to stay. That will be today's project!

The top selling RV camping recliner chair is on sale...great deal at this price...
And for our Canadian reader...it's Boxing Day!
Sounds like a great itinerary. Those low cost airlines in Europe are fantastic. We are planning on flying from Spokane to lisbon next September and I can't get a fare under $1200 each. Do you you know any airlines or routings that are cheaper.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay. Your best bet is to follow the guidelines on the post I wrote here...
DeleteHow to Get the Best Airfare Deal
Look at other city pairs besides SEA-LIS. ie find a cheap flight for SEA-LON with BA, ThomasCook, IcelandAir, or whatever, then use one of the european airlines to reach Lisbon. Keep in mind that the european airlines use London area airports like Stansted, Luton or Gatwick.
DeleteWe have flown to London or Manchester, then taken Jet2 to Venice or Milan for $50, and Monarch to FARO for $60. Once we flew to London then took the high speed train (3 hrs to MAN) in order to fly on Jet2. Good luck!
That's another great way of trying to make the trip cheaper, it may take a little longer to get there but if someone is looking a cutting the costs than this could be an alternative for them, bonkers. Important to note though that people traveling on these discount airlines in Europe have to do so with just carry on luggage or they end up paying more for checked luggage, which at times is more than the flight itself.
DeleteHave too much fun.
ReplyDeleteYep, we will have a great time!
DeleteSounds like a great trip. Love your header picture!
ReplyDeleteThank you, it was a beautiful sunrise! We are looking forward to this trip. :-)
DeleteThose rates are crazy! Why can't we have that here in Canada/ USA? Wow...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.oneincomedollar.com
Yep, they sure are crazy prices but there are lots of these discount airlines in Europe but they are also bare bones ones where you have to be prepared to have one small bag each for your trip that can be carried on as hand luggage and not checked, be able to do without pre-booking your seats which means you may not be sitting together, having to buy your food on board and all the other extras that you may be accustomed to! The USA has airlines like this and if you are careful/lucky you can find some really cheap flights as well, mostly in country. Canada doesn't have this because we only have the two major airlines and we don't have the population to support these discount airlines, although there is a possibility that this may change in the future if they let the American discount airlines to schedule in country flights.
DeleteAmazing rates, fabulous countries! I flew Veuling as part of our flights to Spain this Spring on one of the legs and it is decent. They charge you for every single thing (coffee etc) just like all of the other low cost carriers but service was good. Definitely stock up on some snacks before you go.
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty happy with the pricing on our flights, it is hard to beat some of those prices. :-)
DeleteWe aren't worried about them charging for everything, we just won't buy anything. We have taken flights like this before and we are more interested in just getting from A to B as cheaply as possible, we don't need all the bells and whistles especially when they are really long flights anyways.
We always stock up on snacks because most snacks on board contain gluten.
Sounds like another wonderful adventure! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking like it should be a great adventure. :-)
DeleteGorgeous sunrise!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie and Barry!
DeleteSadly, we're arriving in Nice the day after you leave. :( Would have been lovely to get together. If possible, stop for some socca and glass of wine at the Civette Garibaldi Restaurant - 1 Bis Boulevard Jean Jaurès, 06300 Nice, France. It's our favourite. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, that's a shame, guess we didn't plan that so well. :-( Are you going to be in Portugal or Spain at all in January or February?
DeleteWe will try to remember to check out this restaurant and I already looked up socca and see that it is naturally gluten-free! :-)
My brother mailed me yesterday. They just returned from Croatia. The header pic is great!
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to the day when we can go and visit Croatia. It is definitely high on our list. I hope you brother enjoyed himself.
DeleteIt was a beautiful sunrise!
Our daughter, Carrie, has been to Barcelona twice. She has fallen in love with the city.
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to visiting Barcelona but not sure that we are going to fall in love with it, however, I am sure that we will find lots of places in Spain that we will fall in love with. :-)
DeleteTraveler envy! Can't wait to hear all about your trips. Besides, Ontario just looks sooo cold right now, fly away to warmth! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteWho are you to talk about traveler envy, you just came back from New Zealand and Australia, now there are two places that we can't wait to see. :-)
DeleteOntario is cold and the weather yesterday made us want to jump on a plane and fly away NOW! However, despite the weather we are loving our time with our families, especially our grandchildren.
You guys are amazing and so inspirational.Have a great New Year in the warm climate
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for that lovely compliment! We really do hope that we can inspire others to live their dream, whatever it may be. :-)
DeleteNear to San Remo, I suggest visiting Badalucco and Triora. They are exceptionally beautiful medieval hill towns, accessible via bus from San Remo. Triora (old part) is at the top of a mountain, and has an interesting history with witchcraft - (similar to Salem, Mass in the US)- the town has narrow alleyways, and a beautiful little church (if it's open), and also an exceptionally picturesque cemetery. Badalucco is lower down, along a river. I didn't stop in Badalucco on my trip, but have always wanted to go back. I have thought there must be incredible hikes in this area, but internet resources weren't as accessible when I was there over a decade ago, so I didn't know quite where to go.

Also, I suggest visiting the coastal town of Camogli, and admiring all the trompe l'oeil architectural details. These are all in Italy BTW.

Thank you Sarah for these suggestions! I have already marked them down on our list and it looks like they will be along our route to Monaco and Nice. They look like beautiful and interesting towns to visit and right up our alley.
