Interview on the radio this morning

So, we were up before 6:00am this morning, and walked about 15 minutes from our son's apartment to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) headquarters in downtown Ottawa, Canada. We had slept at our son's apartment to avoid having to drive into the city with possible rush hour traffic problems. We sure do not miss that headache!

We had been told to arrive at 6:30am, and we would be ushered right in for our 6:40am interview.

And that's pretty much what happened. I think we were a few minutes late going in, but no big deal.

The interview lasted all of about 8 minutes. Pretty tough to squeeze in so many of the things we wanted to talk about...I think a half an hour would probably have been better!

Here's the link to the show...

Turn up your volume!

So that was kind of fun. But, I'd like to do a longer one sometime. Too many things to talk about.

When we went into the city yesterday, we picked up a Christmas Tree from kijiji (the Canadian version of Craigslist) for $20...a nice 7ft fake tree, with 100 lights. Good deal. We didn't realize it, but Ruth's dad had been clearing things out of the basement, and one of the things to go was the Christmas decoration stuff. So, the decorations might be sparse, but at least we have a tree for Santa to put some presents under!

    1. We do like our travel and we make it a priority but by doing that we live a very simple life/frugal life in order to make it possible. We always try to encourage people to follow their dreams, whatever they may be, anything is possible. :-)

    1. Thank you Michelle! Yep, we have to watch every penny we spend and for every tea/coffee that we make at home and don't buy gets us that much closer to visiting another country. :-)

You know Kevin, we never want to pay full price for anything, especially a Christmas tree that we will only use for this Christmas.

  5. I really enjoyed your interview...you are so right 8 minutes is definitely not enough time. How do you express this lifestyle in 8 minutes.
    Merry Christmas to you guys.

    1. Thank you Mike! Yep, 8 minutes just isn't enough but we did have fun with it and if we only were able to convince one or two people to take a look at this life then we have done our job. :-)

  7. What a fun interview and only 8 minutes to describe a whole lifestyle. At least you are living your dream and so are we, everyone has their owns dreams to fulfill.

    1. 8 minutes is definitely not enough time for sure. Hopefully we were to be able to get a few more people thinking about it though. :-)

  8. Great interview. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Have a good time in Spain, I know we did, but watch out for the monkeys when you got to the Rock of Gibraltar.

  10. Great interview, if too short. You guys rock! I know you have to be an inspiration to others who might, just might, be thinking, if they can do it, perhaps I can, too. Good for you. Enjoy today!

    1. Thanks Nickie and Jim. Yes, that is what we were hoping for with the interview, that maybe we could get one or two people to think outside the box and that perhaps they might just want to try this out or at least to just do something that they are dreaming about even if it isn't travel related.
