And they did!
Uneventful drive, with most of it on four lane highways.
The roads in Spain are in overall great condition.
Scenery along the way.
It was about 1:45pm when we pulled into the McDonald's parking lot just south of Torrevieja. Sure enough, there was another little motorhome parked there with a Canada flag displayed on the windshield.
Inside, there were Dwayne and Lyd.
We didn't have much time, but sure did have a lot to talk about in the 45 minutes we spent together! They are from Edmonton, Alberta and on a nine month trip traveling Europe in this 1999 van. Because of the Schengen visa requirements, they just finished spending three months in the van in Morocco! So, lots to talk about since we'll be in Morocco for the first two weeks of April.
They did a buy/lease agreement for their motorhome where they paid for it outright including an agreement with the seller to buy it back at a pre-determined price. Their cost ends up being about €780 ($1,130 CAD, $840 USD) per month.
Lots of ways to organize a motorhome trip to Europe if you put your mind to it!
Ruth, Lyd, and Dwayne.
We said goodbyes and hopefully we'll meet up on the road again someday!
Then, we headed the short distance into Torrevieja, and parked Louis in exactly the same spot that we had picked him up from two months ago!
We hadn't seen Louis' owners Graham and Tana since they brought Sherman back to us when we were at Cabri Park in August of last year. So, we got caught up on things and had lots to talk about because they just finished a six week cruise to South America. They took us out for a nice dinner and we stayed the night in their apartment here in Torrevieja.
Torrevieja sunset.
Today, Graham is driving us up to Alicante where we have an AirBnb booked for two nights. Then on Thursday, we're off to Italy!

Good price for Rubbermade commercial grade tote containers...great for basement or garage storage.
And in Canada...
yes we really enjoyed the visit! Could have talked alot longer:) Oh well another time another place maybe another country! LOL! Enjoy Italia :) We'll get there probably as you are leaving.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed meeting up with you both as well. It would be great if our paths could cross once again, you never know when or where that might happen. :-)
DeleteSafe travels to you as well and have fun.
How exciting and interesting to learn how cheap it can be to rent/ lease a. Otorhome in Europe. You will have to get more info when we meet up with you in Saskatchewan in April. Will watch when you get back into Canada. Enjoy Italy I am looking forward to your posts!
ReplyDeleteIt isn't cheap to rent an RV here but doing what Dwayne and Lyd have done, signing an agreement to buy a motorhome and that the company will then buy it back when you are finished is definitely a more affordable way to do RV here in Europe. Doing an RV exchange is definitely one the cheapest ways to RV though! :-)
DeleteWe won't be back in Saskatchewan until the very end of April so if you plan on being there too early you won't see us. It would certainly be nice to meet up though.
