Camping in Europe

I've been meaning to do this post for a while now, simply so that we have a record of the following resources that we used while we were camping in Europe for two months. We will definitely be going back to Europe at some point to do some more RV travel. The best way to see Europe is in a campervan!

In fact, we might even buy an RV to use in Europe.

The problem of course is this Schengen visa that only allows Canadians and Americans 90 days out of any given 180 day period. But there are creative ways around this that we will have to explore. And, you can always exit the Schengen area (Romania and Morocco are two examples) and return at a later date.

So perhaps we will buy an RV over there and rent it out at a reasonable rate to friends and family to help pay for it during the times that we are not able to use it.

Camping in Europe is so popular that there are many websites that list some of the camping opportunities... here are the ones that we used...

Oh, and by the way...I'm starting up a camping gear deals group on Facebook. We search the web looking for special prices, hidden savings, unknown deals, short term price drops... all related to camping and RV travel.

    1. We will have to remember that Brigitte. We definitely want to follow through with this dream, there are so many places to visit over in Europe and traveling by RV is a great way to do it. We sure found that out when we have the motorhome in Spain for two months.

  2. Thanks for the tips, and we too would be interested in renting your RV in Europe at some point. We are going to Spain in June 2018 and thought taking an extra week to visit the coast in a campervan would be ideal!!

    1. We first have to buy a campervan! :-) We'll keep you in mind though if/when we do.

I think you should look into renting a campervan for a week by the coast. We really enjoyed our time RVing in Spain and look forward to more of this type of travel throughout Europe sometime in the near future.

  3. Do you happen to know an insurance company in Europe that will provide insurance for someone who is visiting Europe with their own van for close to 3 months? I'd be happy to hear from you. Thanks. Blessings, Lynn

    1. Sorry Lynn can't help you with that. When we were over there doing the RV exchange the people who had the RV had their insurance on the unit for us to drive as part of the exchange, plus it was a Spanish licensed vehicle.

You might want to do a google search for any blogs that might have shipped a North American RV over and send them a quick email.
