This mom is going to be busy!

Well, we're more than a little disappointed to say that there has been no sign of our little baby owl. Yesterday, Ruth saw both the mom and the dad in nearby trees. This is rare, because we hardly ever see them at the same time. Usually the dad is off doing... well... dad things. But, haven't caught sight of the baby. We're still hopeful that it's safe and sound stashed away somewhere.

Sitting here this morning, and we saw a deer come wandering into the bush beside our house trailer.

I tried to get a photo, but it saw me right away and got nervous. This is the best I could do!

I circled the deer's face for you!

The blackbirds and robins have been busy laying their eggs for the season. The hedge out front is full of blackbird nests. I'll have to wait until the little ones leave the nest before I trim it. Odd that the robins don't use the same hedge, but they seem to build away from each other.

This mom is going to be busy!

Our first seasonal trailer showed up yesterday, and we've now got five sections of the park ready for occupancy. Supposed to be clear and sunny for the next two days, so we expect a few more to show up soon.

I've got three of the five bathrooms up and running. I'll do the other two today. then Ruth will clean them up and put in the toilet paper and paper towels. We'll be ready for business on opening day this coming Thursday!

Anniversary dinner!

  1. Nice that weather is getting better for the long weekend and that you will have things altogether by then.
    Dinner looks tasty.

    1. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the weekend will be nice weatherwise. We have actually had fantastic weather since arriving here at the end of April.

      Dinner was delicious!

  2. Looks like you'e got the park system down pretty well. All the work you do during the summer and then shutting things down must make it a lot easier to open. The robin eggs look really cool!

    1. It is getting there and yes, each year seems to run more smoothly than the last. Still lots to do throughout the park though, to get it looking the way we want it too.

I love the colour of the robin eggs. Can't wait to see the babies when they hatch.

  3. I'm sorry to hear that the owlet has gone missing. I prefer to believe that s/he is safe in the bushes somewhere, but I'd feel better if s/he were in the nest!

    1. We are pretty sad about it too! I just wish that we had been able to put the baby up higher off the ground that day but it was just so windy that we didn't want to risk hurting ourselves in the process. We haven't seen any signs of an attack so we are really hoping that the mom has found a safe place for it to hide until it is old enough to fly. Fingers crossed!

  4. I have noticed that blackbirds are very aggressive and often will peck at the robin eggs. Before we were evacuated we had a pair of each and they were never on the lawn at the same time.

    1. That probably explains why they don't both live in the hedge together.
