It came in two sections that had to be bolted together, and of course it's heavy. So then you have to build it on a trailer of some sort so that you can put it in the water right side up.
But first, we had to bolt the flotation things to the bottom while it's upside down. Then we had to flip over each section individually.

Fortunately, the tractor didn't sink too much, and it walked right back up the beach with the empty trailer...
The very first campers using our new swim raft.
That raft will get a lot of use over the summer. Because we don't have a very large beach, many people swim out to the raft. The old one was getting, well, old... and needed to be replaced. This one was certainly not cheap, and we hope to get ten years or more out of it. Money well spent in this case.

ReplyDeleteThe kids love the swim raft! The older one got used a LOT the first summer we were here and the last two summers we didn't have enough water in the bay to safely use the raft again so I am sure that they are going to get a ton of enjoyment out of this new one this summer.

ReplyDeleteYep, it was a bit of a task! Kevin was going to work on it this week and he said that if he had done it himself along with Barry's help it would probably had taken 1 to 2 days to do it. He was happy to have all the extra help. They did a fantastic job on it.

ReplyDeleteYes, it was great team work! No tractors were harmed putting the raft in, not sure we will be able to say the same when we go to pull it out at the end of the summer.
