All set for Barbados!

A week from today, we will be arriving in Barbados. Everything is coming together, including our accommodation.

Some of you will remember that back in July, we had booked to stay with a couchsurfing host Eric, who had offered to let us stay for the entire nineteen days. But that was over three months in advance, and we were worried something might happen between now and then.

But, we received confirmation a day or so ago that everything is fine. Our host had been on holiday back in England for a few weeks prior, but he has returned to Barbados now. He sent us a note with the address, and has said that he is 99% sure that he will be able to pick us up at the airport.

Nice.

Hastings Beach.

Hastings Beach boardwalk.

The two photos above were found on the internet. The beach and boardwalk are across the road from the apartment we will be staying in. We can't wait to show you those pictures with us standing in them!

Oh, and he said there will be a surprise 3rd guest. A lady he knows who lives in Virgin Islands will be staying in the 3rd bedroom. Virgin Islands was hard hit by Irma, so I guess this lady is taking refuge on Barbados while things are being put back together on her island. Eric says that she is from Canada as well! So that will be fun too.

We will be staying in Hastings, walking distance to the capital, Bridgetown.

Google amazes me. Notice in the map above that Google knows that we will be arriving at Grantley Adams airport on October 25 at 1:35pm!

We've had over 50 great experiences staying with couchsurfing hosts around the world. Looks like this is going to be another one!

A great deal on the compact, powerful Bosch 12v drill. This is the exact same drill that I keep in the motorhome, and in fact I used it yesterday to install new curtains in the bedroom! Bosch makes good tools...

And in Canada...

  2. Google is amazing... But what really amazes me is that you can stay at such an idyllic place for such a long time---completely free!

    1. Yes, the accommodation will be free but I will cook meals for our host and I am sure that we will take him out for a few meals as well. He will certainly be looked after.

    1. We are hoping to go snorkeling so we will keep our eyes open for some and anything else that looks interesting. It will be a good time to give our underwater camera a workout and see how well it works.
