Out with the boys

I've been spending time with my long time friends the last few days. Was out playing pool with my son on Wednesday night, then another old friend on Thursday night.

Then yesterday, was up early to drive Ruth up to her father's place for the weekend, because I'm at a cottage (actually a very large lake home!) on Whitefish Lake just north of Kingston, Ontario.

And the weather gods are on our side!

Usually, my guys weekend away takes place late September or the first weekend in October. But this year, this was the only weekend that everybody could make it. So we expected it to be a little cooler. But they forecast sunshine and abnormally high temperatures, and sure enough it is totally gorgeous.

Sunny, and 22C (72F) today! Normal highs for this time of year are around 12C (55F).

 Whitefish Lake, Ontario.

I arrived at just before 2:00pm and I figured I would be one of the first ones to arrive. But there were already five guys sitting on the dock enjoying the beautiful day.

Sitting on the dock, enjoying some cold beers.

And we did a little single malt tasting in the evening!

Out for a hike this morning, and then I'm sure there will be more cold beers. Gotta pace myself...

  1. Looks exactly like the boys get together Paul used to go to. Don't think I have ever tasted anything malt.

    1. If you like beer than you have had malt, seeing that beer is the most predominant malt beverage around. All scotch whiskeys contain malt and the most best ones are single malt ones and some can be extremely expensive! Bourbon also contains malt and I am sure there are probably others drinks that contain malt as well. :-)

    1. Kevin said that they were all great but his favourite was the Blair Athol which came straight from Scotland just this year.
