Back in Canada

But it's going to be a whirlwind visit, mostly just to say goodbye. We need to do some last minute shopping (maple syrup, among other things!) and then we're heading into the United States on Thursday morning.

Our travel day was fine yesterday. Everything happened exactly as planned.

Breakfast...

Cassava flour makes delicious gluten free crepes!

In the morning we got our things together, and then went for one last walk on the beach. We found a spot in the shade, and Ruth went for a dip in the ocean.

Scenery along the way.

Our last view of Rockley Beach, Barbados.

Eric took a break from work around 1:00pm and drove us to the airport. Thanks again for everything Eric!

We arrived at the airport with lots of time to spare. I went to the bank and changed the leftover Barbados money into U.S. dollars. We checked in with no problem, and went to the food court to have some lunch. Typical Barbados chicken and rice, but it filled the spot.

The Air Canada Rouge flight departed right on time, and arrived in Toronto about 20 minutes early. Then we had about a two and a half hour wait for our Toronto to Ottawa flight.

A bit frustrating to have to go through security again for our connecting flight. I don't know why they designed it that way, but somebody wasn't thinking. Good thing we had lots of time...others were not so lucky and were rushing to make their connecting flights. We like flying, but going through security is such a circus at times. The big tube of sunscreen we had bought in Barbados made it onto the Barbados to Toronto flight without a problem yet it wasn't allowed on the Toronto to Ottawa flight. Oh well... the price you pay if you want to travel.

Our daughter was there to pick us up as agreed at 1:30am Ottawa time! We slept in Sherman last night...it was -3C (27F) outside when we woke up this morning! Winter in Canada! But thankfully, there is no snow on the ground.

Off to my mother's to say hello and goodbye, and then the same with Ruth's father tomorrow, and our kids tomorrow evening. Then Thursday morning, we're off on our two year motorhome adventure!

    1. Well I guess if you only started following us then, then you didn't see a whole lot of our motorhome travels so you should be in for a treat for the next two years! :-)

    1. Weird, maybe your computer didn't like us being in Barbados! :-P

We are looking forward to seeing you both again in a couple of days! Is there anything "Canadian" that you want us to bring down with us?

  3. "...but somebody wasn't thinking". Yup. That's Toronto airport alright, where the motto is, "We're not happy until you're not happy.
    Welcome back.

    1. It really is unbelievable at times and it isn't just Toronto that makes you go through security again after getting off an international flight. You would think that going through security once would be enough but I guess not!

  4. I was most upset at YYZ in June when they took away my water purchased for a very high price in Venice. We were in a secure area and should not have had to go thru security a second time.

    1. We totally agree, we just don't understand why we have to go through the security process a second time, it is totally ridiculous!
