Finally, a relaxing beach day...

This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. You know, as opposed to our typical travel lifestyle! But we can't help ourselves... there is too much to see and do! I can't remember who it was, but somebody had mentioned that they thought we might get bored with 19 days in Barbados.

Nope.

We've got lots of neat stuff planned for you over the next week or so! In fact, we're busy every day for the next five days... so we figured we had better take a down day while we've got the chance.

We usually have a decent breakfast before going out, although yesterday it was mid morning before we got to it...

Breakfast!

We are a two minute walk from the beach, but we have to go about ten minutes in either direction to get to a decent swimming beach with some shade.

Yep, this view will do for a couple of hours!

We've been here 8 days and still hadn't gone for a swim in the ocean yet!

Ruth's view.

We had set ourselves up outside the Coconut Grove Hotel.

Tired of beach pics yet?

We went back home around 2:30pm. We're really not "lie on the beach" type of people, so after a swim and sitting watching the world go by, we've had enough.

Our host Eric was back from work and he was headed to the airport to do some work on the radio in his airplane. We were wanting to go to the grocery store to pick up some things and he gave us a ride there as it was right along his route.

Early to bed last night, because we're up early this morning! Off to do some snorkeling with the sea turtles... bringing our little underwater camera with us on our Barbados Catamaran Cruise!

  1. Very fun! Can't wait for the pictures, I swam with the sea turtles at Playa Del Carmen a couple of years ago and it blew my mind how big they were and curious

    1. We have seen turtles laying eggs on the beach and yes, they are very big but this will be our first time seeing them swim wildly in the ocean and not at a zoo.

  3. Nope never tire of the beach photos! I'm the type to lie on the beach for hours...did that while I was living in San Pedro while in college. I sea salt actually bleached my hair from black to a very light tan color and of course I had the deepest tan ever! Oh can't wait to see the swim with the turtles photos...maybe a video? Love the breakfast! I'm beginning to like Barbados!!!

    1. Glad we aren't boring you with all the beach photos then! ;-)

We are definitely not the lie on the beach for hours type of people but we do enjoying walking along the beach. If you love beaches then you will like Barbados, plus you can snorkel right from the beach in some areas and perhaps even see the turtles swimming.

  6. You guys have a real talent for making the most of the least. I marvel at the things you find around every corner. Safe travels and enjoy snorkeling.

    1. I think it is just that we walk a lot so we see so many more things along way that many others don't. Exploring places is just one of the things that we love doing! :-)

  7. I would presume you have North Point (Animal Flower Cave) on your itinerary as a place to visit. Some love the cave, others not so much. I'd recommend going down to the caves, just for the view of theAtlantic through the opening in the cave walls. The real charm, for me at least, is to view and photograph the surf pounding the steep cliffs, all round the point. Head east to see the water spouts. The most spectacular waves occur when it's stormy, but if the waves are too rough, they close the caves. I visit (not the caves) every time I'm in Barbados. I wouldn't miss it.

    1. We do have North Point and the Animal Flower Cave on our list but we are suddenly starting to see ourselves running quickly out of time. Hopefully we will make it up there sometime during the week. I have seen pictures of the waves crashing into the rocks and cliffs there and that is one of the reasons why we want to head up there. Thanks for mentioning it to us. :-)
