And, we took the free road again. It's in pretty good shape, so it's one of those situations where you can't justify spending the money on the toll road.
Here are some pics from the drive...

Yesterday's drive, 131 kms (82 miles).
We made it to Tres Amigos RV Park. There are two different sections to Tres Amigos... really, two different parks although located close together. We are in RV2. It's quite a bit busier than I expected. I had thought more than a few would have headed north by now. Still lots of empty spots, although there were only two waterfront sites available for our group. Not the nicest sites here. It's essentially a gravel parking lot with hookups. Some of the waterfront sites have been made nicer by people who occupy them long term.
But, the benefit here is that they have a nice beach, and it's a small town feel yet a short ferry ride to the big city of Mazatlan. Oh, and good wifi, so far.
There were four more empty sites on the waterfront, but we were told that one we can't use because the guy who stays in it during the winter had paid for the concrete patio to be built, and someone parked there and drove over the concrete and broke the corner. So now nobody else is allowed to park there and the nice waterfront site sits vacant. Whatever.
And three more waterfront sites sit empty because we were told that the owner's doctor and his family were coming that afternoon to set up tents on those sites for Semana Santa. They still sit empty this morning. We'll see.

The beach here is nice.
What's that in the distance?
A cruise ship taking off at sunset.
Isla de la Piedra gets nice sunsets on a consistent basis.
Today, we do our last group tour. The bus is coming at 8:30am to pick us up, and we won't return until dinnertime. It's the "Mazatlan Country Tour", and it's supposed to be a lot of fun, with a stop at a highly rated restaurant for lunch. Should be a good day!

Really enjoyed following your adventure through Mexico. Lots of places I learned about though you guys. I always looked forward to reading your updates. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more adventures to come.
ReplyDeleteOops, *through you guys. ☺
DeleteSo glad to hear that you enjoyed the journey through Mexico. It is an amazing country and we really love to show everyone what it has to offer and that it isn't as intimating as people might think it is.
DeleteRoasting peppers--that oughtta smell good!
ReplyDeleteWe weren't close enough to smell them but I'm sure they did smell good.
DeleteRoasted red peppers are one of my favourite foods.
ReplyDeleteThen you would have loved seeing this!
DeleteI smell the peppers all the way here haha. I've been to New Mexico when the locals start roasting Hatch green chili peppers...wow some stands will have burritos, tacos, etc. with the freshly roasted green chilies. I love road trips in the US because each geographic area has their specialty in produce and foods. The agricultural belt in California is awesome, Utah peaches, candy corn in mid states, sea food along the coasts, jellies & jams, pickled goods, huckleberries in Montana....I could go on and on. We recently traveled to California and stopped in Indio for 'date' milk shakes. The milk shakes were delicious!!
ReplyDeleteWith the amount of them roasting I wouldn't be surprised if you could smell them from there, lol.
DeleteMexico is exactly the same with very different geographic areas, in fact it could be even more so and definitely different foods for each state, in fact Mexico is the only country at the moment that UNESCO has a special designation just for it's food.
Enjoy your time there, like you said the beach is amazing and goes for miles.
ReplyDeleteThe sites there at Rv 2 are small thats where we parked and enjoyed many happy hours and parties on the beach.
Yes, the beach is quite nice. The sites are a bit close together and back where we are parked is basically a gravel parking lot unless you happen to be a seasonal here and then you can pretty up the site yourself.
DeleteLooks ike a nice drive with lots of peppers:) Enjoy your last tour!
ReplyDeleteYep, lots of peppers!
DeleteAh Mazatlan area, the first place I ever went to Mexico and still my favorite
ReplyDeleteOut of the touristy areas we have to admit that Matzatlan isn't too bad but we still prefer the inland so much more.
DeleteLooks very nice too bad you could not get a beach site. Beach looks wonderful. Enjoy your tour of Mazatlan. Never been but maybe someday! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't want a beach site ourselves but some of the others in the group would have liked to have had one. And those three empty ones at the end are still empty.
DeleteCool photos of the peppers. Never saw them drying before. The beach looks very inviting.
ReplyDeletethis is how they dry lots of things in Mexico. They put down palm fronds or tarp and then put out whatever it is that they want to dry. Works really well in this kind of heat.
DeleteThose roasting peppers would make me cry and cough.
ReplyDeleteThanks for carrying us along in your pockets during this trip.
Not sure how strong the smell would have been, we weren't close enough to tell.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the ride. :-)
