Last driving day with the group

We did the short drive from Teacapan to Isla de la Piedra yesterday. We had a 9:00am start because it's only a 131 km (81 mile) drive. A couple of us needed to get fuel, so we left 20 minutes early to stop at the station up on the road, but when we got there they had one pump closed and it was pretty congested. We decided to carry to to El Rosario where there was a bigger station.

And, we took the free road again. It's in pretty good shape, so it's one of those situations where you can't justify spending the money on the toll road.

Yesterday's drive, 131 kms (82 miles).

We made it to Tres Amigos RV Park. There are two different sections to Tres Amigos... really, two different parks although located close together. We are in RV2. It's quite a bit busier than I expected. I had thought more than a few would have headed north by now. Still lots of empty spots, although there were only two waterfront sites available for our group. Not the nicest sites here. It's essentially a gravel parking lot with hookups. Some of the waterfront sites have been made nicer by people who occupy them long term.

But, the benefit here is that they have a nice beach, and it's a small town feel yet a short ferry ride to the big city of Mazatlan. Oh, and good wifi, so far.

There were four more empty sites on the waterfront, but we were told that one we can't use because the guy who stays in it during the winter had paid for the concrete patio to be built, and someone parked there and drove over the concrete and broke the corner. So now nobody else is allowed to park there and the nice waterfront site sits vacant. Whatever.

And three more waterfront sites sit empty because we were told that the owner's doctor and his family were coming that afternoon to set up tents on those sites for Semana Santa. They still sit empty this morning. We'll see.

Today, we do our last group tour. The bus is coming at 8:30am to pick us up, and we won't return until dinnertime. It's the "Mazatlan Country Tour", and it's supposed to be a lot of fun, with a stop at a highly rated restaurant for lunch. Should be a good day!
