The beach goes on for miles...

We went for a walk on the beach yesterday morning. The last time we were here, two years ago, we walked all the way to town which was about 10 kms. We didn't feel quite that ambitious this time around, and so we took off in the opposite direction to see what there was to see.

The beach goes for literally miles!

The problem is, there's not really that much to see.

This scenery goes for miles.

A few interesting shells to pick up.

Sea turtle remains.

Some guys fishing.

Pelicans.

And really, that's about it. Not much else to see. We ended up walking about 2.5 kms, and then turned around. So we did 5 kms (3 miles) and we were gone about an hour.

They have a nice pool here in the middle of nowhere.

After lunch, we played some backgammon. We keep track of our backgammon and Yahtzee scores on an annual basis. Ruth had started off quite well in January with the backgammon, but has been losing ground the last several weeks. I am now ahead 120 to 95.

Different story in Yahtzee however, where Ruth has a decent 775 point lead!

Then, it was happy hour with the group.

Temperatures have been nice here. Highs of around 29C (84F) and lows around 19C (66F).

  1. The beach looks very inviting. I once walked on the west coast from Venice beach to Santa Monica pier...taking my time after work. It got dark on me by the time I reached Santa Monica pier so had to take a taxi back to Marina Del Rey where I was staying. I took some sunset photos on that walk that won some awards :-)

  6. Gorgeous beach and sometimes it's not so much about what there is to see as what there is to feel, savour and enjoy!

    1. True, but we would still much prefer to be hiking in the mountains than walking along the beach.
