Boy, is that a fact. Our two week work stint here at the park is up, and I although we're tired of cleaning up leaves, we're glad we did it. Steve and Jo still have some work to do, but the worst of it is done.
Last night we had a campfire, and a couple of friends, Liz and Roxie, showed up to say goodbye as well. Ruth was giving some last minute instructions to Jo, and Liz said "you sound like a mother about to hand off her kids to the baby sitter!"
Pretty much true. We've put a lot of effort into the park the last four summers.
We've been so busy working, we haven't made time to go for a hike. So yesterday morning we did the short hike up the hill on the opposite side of the park to get a view...
Ruth.
Me!
You can see Sherman parked off to the left.
Zoomed in on Sherman.
Ruth, enjoying one last view of the park.
We probably won't be back next year, although we are proof that you have no idea what the future holds. But, our current frame of mind says that we're not adverse to coming back another year in the future and working here again. We've really grown to like the area and the community.
Taken out our window a few minutes ago.
For now though, we've got some adventure ahead of us!
We're hitting the road fairly early this morning, and heading towards Saskatoon to visit a friend... then Edmonton, then northeastern British Columbia, then Yukon... with lots of exploring along the way!
No idea where we're stopping tonight... just the way we like it. :-)

So excited for your new adventure. Looking forward to reading about your travels. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteWe are both pretty excited about our new adventure too! :-)
DeleteLove the morning view - looks so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to see those deer out our window on our last day at the park. Such a great way to start off our new adventure. :-)
DeleteI got out in my new-to-me 24 foot Class C last weekend for a test camp. I was a little shocked at the gas mileage and costs. It takes about $220 to fill. What are your thoughts on it? Do you have ways of economizing on gas? I used cruise control.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Canada but here in the US gas prices are sky high...always goes up in summer for some odd reason....maybe more demand?
DeleteGas prices are high because the price of oil is going up. The price of gas almost always tracks the price of crude oil.
DeleteSusan, a full size motorhome gets between 6 and 10 mpg. Your 24 ft class C should be around the 10 mpg mark. Our motorhome holds 228 liters (60 gallons). The best thing you can do is drive at highway speeds at 55 mph or less, and make sure you do it with a tailwind. :-)
Also, use gasbuddy.com to buy the cheapest fuel, and time your fuel stops around the cheaper fuel. Sometimes that means topping up when you don't really need to, but it you can save a couple of dollars it's worth it.
Nice that you got things taken care of there and are now back on the road. Safe travels and I know you will enjoy the journey.
ReplyDeleteThank you George, we know we will have a great time!
DeleteWe enjoyed the public market in Edmonton. Safe travels and enjoy exploring your beautiful country. Lots of boondocking opportunities. The Milepost, however, says none is allowed in BC. Visitor center in Williams lake is az good overnight.
ReplyDeleteWe will keep that suggestion in mind for when we get to Edmonton.
DeleteWe aren't worried about finding lots of boondocking opportunities, we always seem to find some good one but we will keep the Visitor Center in mind for Williams Lake.
The park is greening up nicely. No it's time to get this adventure started, safe travels!
ReplyDeleteYes, it sure is. The trees are really starting to come out.
DeleteIt was nice of you guys to give the new people a hand getting going. Sorry you have to leave you baby behind but it is time to move on. We will be watching your travels with great interest. The friends we met in Lake Mead are heading to Tuk as well so if you see Sandra and Michael in a Hurricane Class A, say hi for us. Safe travels and belated Happy Anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteWe remember what it is like to come into a new job like running a campground and not have a clue where to start with very little help. The park was more or less on our way north so why not help them get off to a good start. There is still lots that we didn't cover that they will just have to figure out on their own but at least the some of the hardest part of the work is done.
DeleteHope things are going well for you and Sue at the park and that you have things just about ready for a new season.
We will keep our eyes open for your friends. And, thanks for the anniversary wishes. :-)
Pretired again at last! Really looking forward to reading about your tundra tour!
ReplyDeleteYep, just a short stint of work this time! :-)
DeleteLovely view of the park. Looking forward to following the new journey.
ReplyDeleteWe have always enjoyed that view! I think we have done it at least once every season that we were there.
DeleteEnjoy the new adventure:)
ReplyDeleteWe will thank you!
DeleteSafe travels, you two! Looking forward to following along on your adventure north!
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! We have been looking forward to this new adventure for a while now, so glad to finally being able to do it.
