First stop though, was just outside of Fairmont at the Hoodoo Trail. Only a short 3 kms (1.8 mile) hike, which is enough when you've got a 5 year old with you! Cameron (age 7) is pretty good, but Sadie isn't quite into hiking just yet!

Cameron got to be co-pilot yesterday!
Ruth gave up her seat so that Cameron could come with us in the motorhome. He was pretty excited to be in the co-pilot's seat! It will be Sadie's turn today.
We drove to Wasa Provincial Park. It's a big park, but the 104 sites are really well spaced out. A little pricey compared to some of the other B.C. provincial parks at $30 CAD ($23.50 USD) considering there are no services at the sites.

We carry around actual camping gear in Sherman. It doesn't get used very often, but it sure is handy when we need it. We set the tent up, and Ruth and I slept in the tent while Lindsey, Justin, and the kids had the full use of the motorhome.
Lots of bike paths in the park, so Ruth took her bike for a ride. I have a lead on a used bike in Cranbrook, so hopefully something will come of that later today!
Ir rained quite a lot overnight. Great for the forest fire problem, and things seem quite a lot clearer this morning.

Wow. Good on ya to give up your bed. I'm sure this is a character flaw, but it never would have occurred to me to give up my bed to go sleep in the tent. We did give up our bed in the house once and slept in the motorhome (in the driveway), but I don't think that counts.
ReplyDeleteI guess it just has to do with us being weird and doing the opposite of everyone it seems, lol! It just made things easier as our bed is in the back and Cameron and Sadie go to bed earlier so it would have been difficult to sit in the "living room area" to talk if we had let them sleep there. I guess we could have let Justin and Lindsey sleep in the tent and then we sleep on the jack-knife couch but that still meant giving up our bed. The air mattress in the tent is actually very comfortable, it was just that, that was the one night that it decided to rain! :-(
DeleteAdorable grandkids! I love tent camping...my daughter and I tent camped over the weekend. It rained on us and we woke up to coyotes howling in the wee hours of the morning. I hadn't heard coyote howls in a long time...nice to lay there and listen. The air smelled heavenly, sweet, clean and fresh. The food tasted amazing cooked with natural spring water.

I actually like to sleeping in a tent as well, but why after all these super dry days did it have to rain that one night!
DeleteCameron enjoyed his ride in the motorhome, he was disappointed that he fell asleep on part of the ride though. Sadie had a good time too, her picture should be in today's post.
Nice to have family time. The rain is a good start to the end of this fire season, we don't seem to call it summer anymore. The kids look like they're enjoying themselves, as do the adults!

DeleteNot sure that the rain helped much with the fires although it did help to clear up the smoke a bit. It was definitely a clearer day yesterday.
Hahaha I carry tents and sleeping bags too, for when I get visitors who want more privacy. But I'm sorry, I won't give up my comfy bed for them lol.

Well, I guess that they could of but then we still would have had the issue of not being able to sit in the living room area if we gave that bed to Lindsey and Sadie, plus the kids go to bed earlier and Cameron would not have slept in the tent by himself. Anyways Kevin and I really don't mind sleeping in the tent, just wish it hadn't decided to rain that ONE night of all nights. :-(
