We can't believe there are empty campsites at this beautiful place

And last night, we were the only ones there!

Like I said yesterday, Anderson Flats is a kind of an odd Provincial park. We found out a little more about it when a couple of conservation officers stopped by to warn us about the current fire ban. The area has only been a provincial park since 2007. Apparently somebody (with the last name Anderson) died and left the land to the province.

The website does mention camping, but it seems not many people know about it.

When we asked at the visitors center, they said "You should be okay parking there. I don't think anybody checks."

Well, somebody is on top of it because the grass is being cut...

We can't believe there is nobody camping here!

This is located only about 4 kms (2.5 miles) off the main road, with a lot of RVers simply driving right by. There are no signs, so if you don't do any research, you wouldn't know about it.

Surprisingly, it's not even listed on iOverlander, but I have now submitted it.

The mountain near sunset.

So we stayed there yesterday and did nothing but enjoy the scenery.

Actually, that's not true. I cleaned all of Sherman's windows, inside and out. I had bought some new glass cleaner the other day, and I have to say it is the best glass cleaner I have ever used. Windex is crap compared to this stuff...

And while I was doing that, Ruth was deep cleaning the bathroom. Taking down all the shelves and wiping them etc.

We actually sat and read our books outside in the afternoon. Then we played some backgammon and yahtzee. Just relaxed, something we don't do very often! I even had a nap!

Didn't even go for a hike!

We almost thought about staying a third night. But, we want to explore, and Smithers is supposed to be really nice. So we're moving on.

  1. Very nice site. The Smithers falls and glacier are pretty https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g499148-d2226855-Reviews-Twin_Falls_Glacier_Gulch_Trails-Smithers_British_Columbia.html

    1. Thanks Cheapchick! We actually already had this on our list of hikes in the area. Now we just have to hope that the road in is good for Sherman. :-)

  2. I use Dawn dish soap/water and use a micro filler cloth to clean windows...gets dirt and oily residue off windows i.e. oily bugs and/or oiliness from inside. I put the dish soap/water mixture in a spray bottle. Works wonders..for tough stains use bounce fabric softner. I guess it's human nature to not sit still. Even when I think I'm resting and relaxing, I'm always up doing something i.e. cleaning, reading, hiking, etc. I can't sit still and do nothing except on a rare occasion especially while out camping. I'll set my chair up and watch clouds, mountains, leave rustling in breeze, critters flying or scrurring around, or listening to sounds of nature but only for a short period of time hahaha

    1. I am like that too! I almost always have to be doing something and even in the afternoon while we were relaxing, I was either reading or giving myself a pedicure. :-)

    1. If you like peace and quiet and beautiful views then yes, you would like it there. Not sure what it might be like on the weekend though.
