Everything ran perfectly!

We left our fantastic free overnight spot at the trailhead and drove the short distance into town and parked up behind the library to use their fast free wifi internet. One of the things I had to do was to track down what happened to the other control arm we were waiting on for Sherman.

Long story short, it turned out that it had to be shipped from a different warehouse, and that warehouse was located in Indiana. Even though I had ordered it through Amazon, it was a 3rd party supplier and they made an error by only sending one tracking number.

So both items really did ship at the same time. But one warehouse was here in Washington state and the part was delivered the next day. The other one shipped from Indiana, and by the end of the day yesterday it had been delivered. So both items are at the mechanics waiting to be installed. Sherman has an appointment on Friday morning for his operation!

We drove down to Osoyoos Lake Veterans Memorial Park. There is a big campground there, but also a free day use area with lots of parking. Hardly anybody around now that kids are back in school. Maybe 10 rigs in the campground. We went for a walk, and we will come back another day (perhaps this afternoon!) and put the kayak in.

It's a pretty area.

I bet this beach is packed on a summer weekend!

Big shade tree.

It's supposed to go up to 88F (31C) today!

From there, we walked up to the main highway and the NAPA store to pick up Sherman's other part. Sure enough, it was there waiting for us. Then, we walked into town and just wandered around a bit. Never took any more photos!

Back at the motorhome, I changed the part from NAPA. The part was called an "idle speed control actuator" and it had gone bad, causing the idle to be too high when Sherman was warmed up. It also caused the "service engine soon" light to be lit!

We had temporarily removed the part that caused the idle to be too high, until we were able to get this new part. It took me about an hour to put everything back together properly, I disconnected the battery cable to clear the engine codes, and fired him up.

Everything ran perfectly, and no more check engine light!

We came back to our overnight spot at the trailhead and are going for a hike this morning before it gets too warm.

  1. Glad to hear it's all coming together for you. I have never noticed kayaks in photos of Sherman. Where do you store them when traveling? I would like to get a kayak, but don't know where I would store it in my RV.

    1. We only have one kayak but it is a double seater and it stores away under our couch in the motorhome. It is an inflatable one!:-) We actually used it a few weeks ago but Kevin forgot to mention it because the pictures were on the other camera and he just totally forgot about them.

  2. I've never regretted my early career as a mechanic, it still comes in handy and have saved me tons of money over the years. Bet you are glad to have mechanical talent, too! :c)

    1. Kevin is very happy that he is mechanically inclined! :-) It doesn't help sometimes though when it is a bigger job and he doesn't have the tools for it, like replacing our control arms and ball joints. :-(
