When in the Telus store, we put the Telcel SIM card in the sales girl's phone. Nope. "Cannot register on Network". However putting her SIM card in our phone? It worked right away. So at least we know the problem is not with our hardware.
But cellular rates in Canada are ridiculous, so we're not going to play that game. We can do without until we get to Mexico. We will be at enough places with free wifi, plus we have our Winegard cellular internet antenna for when we're not around free wifi.
We got the bicycles off the back and went for a bike ride. Oliver had a nice paved bicycle path along the river. We stopped by the visitors center to get some local info...
Ruth, talking with Pat at the Oliver Visitors Center.
Oliver is wine country.
You can even buy a neck carrying strap for your wine glass!
We carried on to the bike trail, and ended up doing 14 kms (8.7 miles)...
Great riding on a nice paved path.
Scenery along the way.
Tucelnuit Lake.
Me! It's so nice to finally have decent quality bikes!
We said goodbye and thanks to Scott for looking after us at his carwash business, and we headed the back way to the Twin Lakes Golf and RV Resort. The managers Lorraine and Greg had invited us for a visit, and Ruth and Lorraine have been communicating on facebook for a while.
Most people would have taken the main highway route, but I asked Scott about the back way, and it was much better!
Country scenery.
The road was recently paved.
And with hardly any traffic.
Yesterday's drive, 31 kms (19 miles).
We met Lorraine and Greg, and they set us up in a site right beside their 5th wheel. We chatted for a while, and then puttered around giving Sherman a bit of a cleanup. After dinner, we went over to their rig and talked for the evening. Lots to discuss, because they have been managing campgrounds for a while and they have done three trips to Thailand which is on our list of places to go.

The big 15'x13' Coleman Instant Screenhouse had another price drop... almost a record low.
And in Canada...
Like I always say...another lousy day in paradise! Nice meeting you and I'm glad that you got to enjoy your new bikes on our beautiful hike and bike path. Happy travels to you and looking forward to having a drink together one day down the road. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWe had a great time riding on your hike and bike trail in Oliver. I am sure we could have found some areas that we easily could have gone biking around. You live in a pretty area Scott, and I think you know it. :-)
DeleteWe are looking forward to that drink together somewhere down the road. We have no doubt that we will meet again. Hurry up and sell the car wash and get out on the road! ;-)
We love the Oliver area and glad you enjoyed it as well. Drive safe and take care.
ReplyDeleteWe did too, it was just a shame that we didn't have more time to spend in the area, maybe next time. :-)
DeleteThat’s neat - a paved bike trail!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOnly in the city was the trail paved, after that it became gravel. :-)
DeleteGlad you're enjoying your new-to-you bikes. The road you drove on looks like our kind of bike-riding road. Fresh pavement like butter...a real treat, and light traffic -- even better! The bike path looked great too!
ReplyDeleteThat road is a great one for biking, we went on part of it ourselves with the bikes and it is marked as a bike route too. :-)
