Plus, we didn't really want to be in Kelowna until this afternoon, and staying here would mean we didn't have to look for another spot to stay along the way. Besides, Kelowna is only 88 kms (55 miles) away.
So in the morning, we went for a short 3.6 km (2.2 mile) hike. Not very long, but at least there was some uphill involved to get the heart pumping.
View over the RV Park and golf course.
It sure is nice scenery in this area.
Bright green moss growing on this tree.
Another view.
Then after lunch, we went for a nice bike ride. The roads were fairly quiet, and there were quite a few hilly sections to give the legs a good workout!
Eventually, we came to a dirt road and decided to head in that way.
Ha! It felt like we were back in Mexico!
The dirt road led along the shore of Horn Lake.
Horn Lake.
The land in this area is owned by the Nature Trust of British Columbia and that's why you don't see any cottages being built around this particular lake.
Loon.
Great area for a bike ride.
Horn Lake.
We ended up doing 13.2 kms (8.2 miles).
In the evening, we went over to friends Lorraine and Greg and played some cards and drank some wine. Nice evening.
Today, as I mentioned above, we are heading for the city of Kelowna (pop 130,000) to visit a cousin who I don't think I've seen for over 40 years!

And in Canada...
Nice shot of the loon!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love to see them.
DeleteWhat a nice, beautiful place to relax!!
ReplyDeleteYep, it sure is. :-)
DeleteSo from the campground looking west there is a trailer and shop on the mountainside. That is our son's home. We were at Twin Lakes at the end of July. Continued happy travels!
ReplyDeleteI think we may have seen it when we were our riding our bikes. We were definitely going in that direction. We loved all the hills/mountains there, such pretty scenery.
DeleteThe landscapes bring back great memories of our Canadian adventure!
ReplyDeleteI bet it does, especially because you drove up to Kelowna!
DeleteNice not to be plagued by wildfire smoke!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely! It is nice to see all the beautiful scenery rather than all the smoke and haze.
DeleteYes that is a lovely area for hiking and biking before you get to the crazy city of Kelowna. Enjoy and stay safe. Enjoy your reunion with your cousin Kevin.
ReplyDeleteWe can definitely see why the Okanagan Valley is so popular it really is beautiful and there are so many things to do, especially when you love the outdoors. However, when somewhere is popular, then you get all the people and lots of people mean lots of traffic! We are enjoying our time here but we have to say that we are glad to be here at this time of year and not in July and August, we don't think it would be so enjoyable then with all the traffic and all the people!
DeleteMy posts keep coming up as unknown so you know this is Brigitte and Rick. Have to figure out what is going on since I got this new computer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting a name to the comments, I am sure you will have it figured out soon enough Brigitte. :-)
DeleteThese kind of days are why we all travel by RV:)
ReplyDeleteWe agree, we think it is just about the best way to travel. :-)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous area, and another lovely place to ride your bikes! I am envious! Looks like you're getting some good weather still, another plus. Meanwhile, in Florida, it's still n the 90F+ range every day. Not really feeling much like fall!
ReplyDeleteIt really was beautiful there, and it has lots of bike routes in the area too. We could easily have spent more time there.
DeleteThe weather overall was fantastic, it was a little cooler that day, in fact we had to run the heater in the morning for a little while but it was a perfect temperature for hiking and biking.
