We will meander our way around the Olympic Peninsula, and then head south along the coast and into Oregon.
Provided the weather holds out there, we hope to spend some time exploring before heading even further south into California and Death Valley. From there, we will make our way over to Texas.
We're looking forward to getting back to our normal style of travel. We've done a lot of visiting with people over the last two months, so we've been doing more driveway camping than normal. And we get invitations all the time to stay at people's places along our route. So don't take offense if we decline your invitation! We just want to do some traveling on our own for the next few weeks.
Yesterday, we went for a walk in the morning... just 4 kms, but enough to get the blood flowing.
Got a great shot of this bald eagle!
Bald eagles have such an intense look on their face!
Man sitting on a log reading a book.
At least that's what it looked like!
We took our friends Bernd and Angelika out for lunch. They've looked after us so well here, including babysitting Sherman while we were gone to Ontario. We enjoyed our time here, and look forward to the next time we meet! Thank you for everything!
In the evening, long time blog reader Karyn stopped by for a visit. Karyn has been with us here at Travel with Kevin and Ruth since the early days when we were on the My Trip Journal website. We've been online since October 2007, and I think she deserves a ten year loyalty award!
On to other news.
Our now good friends Glen and Steve introduced us to the RV lifestyle back in the summer of 2007. They are from England, and she contacted me the other day to say that they are selling the motorhome they own in England, and will buy another one in U.S. as they want to do another North America tour.
The motorhome for sale is a Dethleffs Esprit 2013 T7150 EB comfort model. (Twin beds or king size) Around 80,000km (50,000 miles) on it. Left hand drive.
I'm advertising it here because there are some North Americans who would love to RV in Europe. And Glen will help you get it registered. Here is the note she sent me...
It is available anytime from now onwards and we would even take a deposit and hold it until late next year and deliver anywhere in Europe.
As we just walk away with a few clothes and medicines we leave all the contents making it ready to use immediately and perfect for anyone arriving from abroad or buying a motor home for the first time. We leave literally everything..including the kitchen sink !
We can help with UK registration and address etc if bought by foreigners.
2013 Dethleffs Esprit.
Asking price is 49,000 euros (approx $57,000 USD).
I have a couple of videos of the rig as well...

Great deal on the LifeWit 12.5 ft Extension Ladder.
And in Canada...
Have a great trip! I remember the Oregon coast from when I was a kid and have very fond memories! The Washington State ferry system is fantastic and runs like clockwork and is reasonably priced unlike some ferry systems in BC who shall remain nameless....safe travels and we look forward to your adventures!
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to the trip and just hope that the weather will hold out for us. This will be new ground for us and we always love to explore new places. Hopefully we will have some pretty pictures and some good stories to tell. :-)
DeleteI love the Oregon coast, almost as pretty as Vancouver Island :P. Enjoy your border crossing!
ReplyDeleteWe have seen lots of pictures of the Oregon coast so we are hoping that we will have nice weather when we are in that area. We are definitely looking forward to it. :-)
DeleteThat'll be a wonderful trip for yo guys , Enjoy that and Death Valley.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we think it will be a wonderful trip too! :-)
DeleteHighway 101 along the coast is excellent. Dotted with wonderful little towns along the way. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYep, we are looking forward to the drive and the exploring that we will do along the way. :-)
DeleteWe left from Bellingham when we went on the Alaska Marine Highway with Elderhostel in 1995.
ReplyDeleteThat would make sense, I think Bellingham is the start of the Alaska Marine Highway.
DeleteWas sure great seeing you again, wish I was coming through Mexico with you! Maybe next time!
ReplyDeleteAnd we enjoyed meeting up with you once again Karyn. Hopefully the next time we meet it will be on the road! :-)
DeleteWelcome to the good old U.S. of A. again. Enjoy yourself and we will enjoy your travels also.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol! :-)
DeleteI'm wondering if you've planned for places to stop on the Oregon coast. There are literally dozens of beachfront state parks. They aren't cheap, and in the summer at least they are fully reserved, but sometimes you can get a cancellation.
ReplyDeleteNope we haven't planned any of that yet, but we know people that have boondocked along that route so I am sure we will find some good places to spend the night. The state parks are definitely a little rich for us but if they have enough to offer then it is possible that we may stay in one or two, we will just see how things go as we travel along.
DeleteThis should be a good time of year to head south, hope that holds true with the weather patterns we have been having:)
ReplyDeleteWe think so too, we just hope that the weather will hold out for us on the west coast!
DeleteWishing you the best on Safe Travels.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
It's about time.
Thank you very much and the same to you when you start your travels south.
