One couple from our group is visiting a friend here, so Lynette and Paul haven't been around much. We'll probably see them again at happy hour today.
When I opened the curtains first thing in the morning, this is what I saw...
Still on our list of things to do some day!
When we arrived in San Miguel de Allende, we went to the tourist office and got maps for everybody and then we each went our separate ways with an agreement to meet for lunch at 12:30pm.
Anybody need a hat?
Heading up hill!
Nice view from the top.
Zoomed in on the central area.
Interesting bell on this church!
Municipal building.
Walking back to the center.
We met the group again at 12:30pm and walked a short distance to a restaurant that does molcajete. It's interesting that the dish is called Molcajete, but it's actually the serving bowl that is a molcajete.
A mixture of meats with sauce, avocado, and cheese.
Everybody enjoyed their lunch meal, and I don't think anybody needed much supper!
Mounted police.
With Bob and Denise, we decided we needed more exercise and we walked the 5 kms (3 miles) back to the RV park. As we approached the entrance, my phone rang. It was Wendy, asking how long we were going to be because we had visitors.
We figured it was Paula and Jerry from Nova Scotia... they are also visiting here but we hadn't seen them yet.
But when we got around the corner and saw who it was, we were surprised!
It was long time blog readers Miguel and Alma, with their daughter Alma. Miguel and Alma are from La Paz, Baja California Sur. But their daughter Alma is working in Queretero and they were visiting. They saw we are close, so they came for a visit!
Miguel and Alma have a motorhome is La Paz, and they are just getting it ready to bring on a trip to mainland Mexico.
Miguel, Kevin, Alma, Alma, and Ruth.
Really enjoyed having them visit, and we hope we bump into them again in January or February with their motorhome.
Next up, we had a birthday party!
Our first group birthday party as Roy celebrated yet another year...
Birthday boy Roy!
Another great day in Mexico!
Today, we're taking the group to nearby Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of the Mexican Revolution.
Weather yesterday here at 6,300 ft... light clouds and a high of 21C (70F), overnight low 4C (39F).

The police horses are amazing. When we were there at new years eve they stood there amoung the masses with fireworks banging all over the place, totally unperturbed. Have fun in Dolores, my kind of town, excellent pottery.
ReplyDeleteYes, they seem to be well trained horses.
DeleteWe like Dolores Hidalgo, it's a nice town to wander around and the ice cream there is delicious and in all different kinds of unusual flavours.
Never been to Mexico but would love to!

Just keep following along on our trip and see what beautiful things Mexico has to offer. By the time we are done, you'll be wanting to book a trip to Mexico. :-)
DeleteAre you sure that guy was selling hats? Or maybe he couldn't make up his mind which one to wear? :cD
ReplyDeleteLol, I only hope that he doesn't trip or he might be playing 52 hat pickup. ;-)
DeleteI didn't know there was Mexican mounted police, makes sense though, especially in older towns with narrow streets.
ReplyDeleteThey aren't true "mounted police" like the RCMP, but they are like any other police force that have horses in their line up, just like bicycle and motorcycle cops.
DeleteDid you stop by the outdoor communal laundry? There is usually someone there doing their wash.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely did, with three of the group members. If some of the others go back tomorrow and to the trolley bus tour then I am sure they will too. When we were there, nobody was doing their laundry though, however there were people doing their wash last year though.
