However, we got to one turn that we needed to make and there were a bunch of signs saying the road was closed so we had to make a detour.
Nice scenic drive though...
We had to go through a couple of small towns.
Heading through La Sauceda.
Christmas stuff for sale.
Scenery along the way.
More scenery.
Coming into San Miguel de Allende from the south.
We took the western bypass around the city.
Got ourselves all parked up.
Even with the detour, it only took us an hour and a half. Pretty smooth drive, despite the added distance.
Yesterday's drive, 82 kms (51 miles).
This is our 5th time to San Miguel de Allende. It's not our favorite spot due to the expat influence, but it's still worth showing to the group who have never been here. And the San Ramon Hotel and RV Park is nice, with good power and excellent wifi. The grounds are well kept, and they even have warm water swimming pools open on weekends. For 320 pesos ($16 USD, $21.50 CAD), it's a good deal.
Everybody did their own thing for the afternoon, and a beautiful afternoon it was! Not a cloud in the sky. And only about 20C (68F), but the sun was blazing hot.
Sitting out for happy hour.
We made a decision to go into the city in the evening. The city would be decorated for Christmas, so there would be lots of lights. We ordered some taxis for the group and were charged 150 pesos ($7.50 USD, $10 CAD) for the 5 km (3 mile) trip. The return trip was only 120 pesos ($6 USD, $8 CAD).
The famous Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel lit up at night.
Probably the most photographed church in Mexico.
The central plaza.
Horses and music.
Gorgeous Christmas tree.
The manger scene.
Poinsettias everywhere.
A quiet plaza.
An enjoyable evening was had by all.
Chilly overnight... down to 2C (36F), but now at 8:30am things are warming up nicely and it should be a sunny day with a high of 21C (70F). Perfect.
