A face only a mother could love...

Ruth and I went for a stroll on the beach here at Tangolunda Bay yesterday morning. While it's too hot to do any actually exercise as such, going for a "stroll" is okay.

Lots of people out enjoying their one and two week all inclusive resort time.

Kind of funny, we met a couple the other day who asked where we were staying. I answered "Playa Tangolunda". He asked which resort, and I said we were in the campground. He said they were at the Dreams Resort. I said, "oh yes, it's the same beach, just a different price".

Yep, that's for sure.

The Barcelo Resort.

Dreams, on the right.

Tangolunda Bay.

The Quinta Real Resort.
This place never seems very busy.

A face only a mother could love.

After lunch, Ruth did a couple of haircuts and then went birdwatching in the campground.

Couch's kingbird.

I see you!

A chachalaca.

Old termite nest.

Taken over by bees!

When we were out for a walk the other evening, I noticed a sign in front of the Barcelo Resort...

"WE INVITE YOU TO ENJOY OUR SHOWS".

So I'm thinking, if they are inviting us, and there is no mention of price.... then it must be free.

Bob and I walked up and asked the guard at the gate. I asked if we could go see the show. He says "sure, but tonight is the children's show, so maybe you want to come back another night.".

He never mentions a price, and I didn't ask specifically.

So last night, four of us walked over just before the 9:00pm start time. He asks for ID, and says we can pick it up when we leave. Then, he says you just have to go to the front desk and pay.

Huh? But you invited us!

Anyhow, they want 160 pesos ($8.50 USD, $11.25 CAD) per person.

No thanks.

I wasn't surprised, but I do think their sign is a little misleading. It should mention the price. A couple of Spanish ladies were listening to this conversation, and they also thought it was misleading. I asked to speak to the manager, but the guard wouldn't let me!

Oh well... it cost us nothing to try!

We are moving on today.... to Puerto Escondido. Haven't been since 2014!

  1. Must admit it is nice to see pictures of sun and water instead of mountains and sometimes snow on top particularly when the temp. is -24C (-11.2F) in Ottawa!

    1. We agree it is nice for a change of scenery and the blue ocean and palm trees aren't hard to look at. :-)

    1. Probably to make sure that you actually leave the resort after the show is over!

  4. We stayed at the Barcello a few years ago for a wedding...the shows were not that good. The vulture pics reminded me of hand feeding the vultures on Margarita Island in Venezuela a number of years ago. Cheers

    1. Then I guess it is a good thing that we didn't actually pay to go and see the show! :-)

Not sure I would want to hand feed vultures, but then it would also be interesting to have seen.
