And Ruth and I walked into nearby El Arco to pick up a few things for our wine and cheese New Years Eve happy hour. Otherwise, not much going on yesterday, so we thought we would present a different perspective for you...
One of the couples in our group has never been to Mexico before. So we asked them to write up a little paragraph or two about their experiences and thoughts so far. We have now been almost a full month in Mexico... with three months to go.
So, this is from Sue and Roy...
It has been 30 days since we crossed the border into Mexico. It is an awesome experience and so glad we have another 3 months. There are 31 states in Mexico and so far, we have visited six. They are: Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, Michoacán, San Luis Potosi, and Mexico.
Highlights of the trip so far include unique landscapes, wonderful weather, great markets, ancient churches, vibrant house colors and terrific food. The best part of all is the Mexican people. They are happy, helpful and so friendly.
Trips to Centro in each city and visiting the churches, shops, and perhaps a taco stand or two! We made a side trip to Real de Catorce, an old silver mining town. Visiting the town of Guanajuato with its underground streets, the Mummy Museum and the funicular. We also took a side trip to the statue of Cristo Rey. In San Miguel Allende we went to the market, the Botanical Gardens and a side trip to Dolores Hildalgo and the pottery factory. Departure for Valle de Bravo and stopping at a Tianguis Market in Tlaipujahua. The Tianguis Market is a traveling market in a certain city on the same day of the week. Arriving in Valle de Bravo we have enjoyed Mexican hospitality from our host family for Christmas Eve and his daughter’s birthday party. We’ve also had a sail boat ride on the huge lake. Taken horses to view the magnificent butterflies in the winter home and hiked to the waterfalls at Ixtapan del Oro.
It’s New Year’s Eve and we are planning wine and cheese for happy hour and anticipating paragliding tomorrow! I wanted to give a shout out to Kevin and Ruth! They are incredible people who are giving us the real Mexico experience! Their time in Mexico is unsurpassed for assisting us with the real experience. They are the best guides anyone should want! Feliz ano!!
Thanks for that, Sue and Roy!
We had a really nice wine and cheese happy hour with the group. Then retired to our own rigs for the evening, with intention of getting out again at midnight to watch fireworks across the lake. But around 9:00pm, Chago invited us out for a fire, and we ended up staying up to ring in the new year!
Lots of snacks.
And some vino.
Chago and Ruth dancing!
So today, we are going to start the new year on the right foot! We're off to go paragliding... should be some fantastic photos for you tomorrow!

And in Canada...
Sue and Roy must keep a diary to remember all those things!
ReplyDeleteNot totally sure that she does because she did have to ask us a few things. They may just look back at their pictures and also we did some fun things that you just can't forget. :-)

DeleteI've been to Mexico. It left me with a virulent strain of pneumonia that cause my lungs to collapse. So with that memory, I'm not in a rush to go back. :c(
ReplyDeleteI'll just continue to enjoy Mexico from your travels. Happy New Year!
It's too bad that your experience wasn't good when you were here last but something like that could have happened to you anywhere in the world including your own home town. However we are happy that you enjoy reading about our adventures, maybe we will change you mind! :-)

Kevin was obviously standing with his left foot in the air at midnight so he could start the new year on the right foot!!! Loving your travels.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't just Kevin with his left foot in the air at midnight, there were 8 more of us doing the same thing! We all definitely started the year off on the right foot! We all had a blast. :-)
