Happy to be back with our Mexican family!

Yesterday, we brought the group from Playa Tangolunda in Huatulco to Playa Carrizalillo in Puerto Escondido. Not a long drive, so we didn't set out until 9:00am.

We haven't been in Puerto Escondido since 2014! Despite the fact that it is our favorite coastal town in Mexico, it just didn't happen the past couple of years. And after doing last year's route that didn't include any of our three favorite places, we weren't about to miss it this year.

Here's the map...

Yesterday's drive, 118 kms (73 miles).

Scenery along the way.

Some parts of highway 200 is still just a narrow two lane road.

While other sections are being widened.

Scenery.

Fields of papaya trees.

At the Rio Colotepec.

We pulled in to get gas just outside of Puerto Escondido. Sherman's tank was getting low... I put in 3,800 pesos ($207 USD, $270 CAD) worth! 200 liters (53 gallons). Sherman's tank holds 228 liters (60 gallons), so we could still have done another 100 kms (60 miles) or so!

There are no actual RV parks in Puerto Escondido, which is odd. There are a couple of places at Playa Zicatela that are suitable for a few smaller rigs, but nowhere for a group of eight. Long story short, I knew that Playa Carrizalillo has a big parking area, and I contacted the Mondala Hostal to see if we could park there and use their facilities. We came to an agreement, and that's where we are.

It'll do for five nights.

Once we got everyone settled, Ruth and I walked over to the main street and hopped in the back of a camioneta... a pick up style collectivo taxi that brought us the 7 kms (4.5 miles) from Puerto Escondido to the village of La Barra de Colotopec.

This is where we met our adopted Mexican family back in February of 2009.

Unfortunately, most of the family is not here. Some are working in the U.S. right now, and so it's just the mother Silvia, and the older sister Leticia. The younger sister Olivia is also living there but she is currently visiting her husband in Mexico City. He is in the military, and taking some courses there. Olivia returns this afternoon though.

Leticia.

Mikayla.

We had a nice visit, and will be taking the group over to meet them on Wednesday morning.

On the way back to the hostal, we picked up a birthday cake for Paul.

Happy Birthday Paul!

The property next door.

Everybody watching the sunset.

End of another great day in Mexico.
