We started it off with a 9 km (5.6 mile) hike. There were 7 of us to start off. We didn't really have a destination in mind, other than heading out along a causeway to see some bird life in a marshy area near the park.
Ruth and I have been here three or four times in the past. This time, the water level in the lake is the lowest we've ever seen it. Very strange, after being at Lake Chapala not very far away where the water level is at it's highest in decades.

It's an odd tree because at this time of year there are no leaves... only the flowers.

We came across a dirt road, so we took it.
It turns out this road goes to another village, but we weren't prepared for a 20 km (13 mile) hike.
Maybe we'll do that Monday morning though!

Back at the RV Park, we had some lunch and then played some backgammon. Really great weather for hanging around a water park. Highs of 32C (90F), and comfortable overnight lows of 12C (54F).
Saturday is still a work day for a lot of people in Mexico, so while the water park was busier than it is during the week, Sunday (today) is the busiest day.

Today, we plan on walking into the town of Villa Corona. We had read about a good taco place for lunch where the tacos are only 8 pesos (43 cents USD, 57 cents CAD) a piece, so we'll try and find that place for lunch!

DeleteWater levels as well as the weather all seem to be changing around the world. Nice Hike and Pictures. Is that 13 Miles each Way? Better check it out because most won't be able to make it.

It's about time.
Yes, they do seem to be changing. We are going to have to find out the story about the water levels here, we think there has to be a particular reason for it because it isn't due to the lack of rain.
DeleteThe hike is round trip and only four of us are going to do the whole thing. A few others are going to join us for part of the hike and then they will turn around and head back on their own.
