Time for a change of scenery

Well, we had a pretty good week at Chimulco Water Park here in Villa Corona. But, a week in one spot is enough...we have more of Mexico to show these people!

So we're moving on to see Bonnie at Delia's Trailer Park in Etzatlan. It's a farming town with a population around 17,000 and it's located only 45 kms (28 miles) from the popular tourist town of Tequila.

The last time we were at Bonnie's in Etzatlan was exactly three year ago! March 15, 2016, however we were on a mission at the time and only stayed two nights. This time, we've got five nights planned, but we might stretch it to six... we'll see. Looking forward to taking the bikes out along their 35 km long cycling path.

It's only a 93 km (58 miles), so we should get there well before noon.

Yesterday was hair cutting day. Ruth did my hair, as well as three others!

In the afternoon, Bob and I walked into town to buy some beer... supplies were running low and we can't have that!

Ruth in the private pool.

Chimulco Water Parked has looked after us really well. The pools close around 6:00pm, but if you are staying in the RV park, they will fill one of the private pools in the evening if you request it. So our group has been taking advantage of that almost every evening.

Anyhow... gotta get going. See you in Etzatlan!

  2. A private pool sounds great! There were far too many people in the other pools for me. I prefer the beach to a pool any day. Beer is important (that should be a bumper sticker lol)

    1. The other pools are only busy on the weekends, during the week there is no problem at all with them being too busy but they close the pools at 6pm. This private pool they will open in the evening only for the RVers in the campground if you ask them. It was a really nice added bonus, as our group used it every night but one.

  3. I just facebooked ya'll earlier regarding the safety in Mexico. I see you are in a caravan and not on your own. Do you think that makes the difference, both in safety and in having the confidence to travel through Mexico? It looks like you are having fun! We went to Mexico pretty much every year until around 2010 when my Dad died - my parents lived there, near Cholula, for 25 years. We just aren't sure about traveling through Mexico on our own!

    1. We don't consider safety to be a factor in Mexico as long as you don't do stupid things and you aren't involved with drugs or the drug trade.

We have traveled all over Mexico on our own for many years and wouldn't hesitate to do it even now. However people who have never been here before and are nervous for their first time quite often take a caravan tour. We can pretty much guarantee you that everyone on this caravan wouldn't hesitate to do another trip down here on their own and feel confident about it.

Everyone has commented how they have never felt unsafe or nervous and have remarked many times about how friendly and helpful people in Mexico are.

It is always important to do the research beforehand, obey the rules of the road and the laws of the country. Don't drive at night, not because of bad guys but because of so many other obstacles such as cows, horses and other animal life on the road, topes, large stones, drunk drivers or cars without working headlights, plus you would miss all the beautiful scenery. If you would really like to travel here and still feel unsure then try to travel with other RVers from the border down to your destination or join a caravan.

  4. We are still following. Everything you’re doing looks like fun. Love that you spend extra time at places before moving on. You guys are wonderful caravan leaders!!!!!!!!!

    1. We are having a great time Connie and Barry! It is so nice to be taking slow and easy on this trip, it has been very relaxing and we have shown the group some amazing places that they would not have seen had they been on a normal caravan trip. And, we still have a couple more weeks to go, with a few more places to show everyone. :-)
