Back at Cabri, Saskatchewan

Yesterday we did the long drive from Calgary, Alberta to Cabri, Saskatchewan. It's not a really exciting drive, and we wanted to do it all in one day. So we stuck to the main 4 lane highway.

It certainly could have been more interesting to use some back roads, but it would have taken at least an extra hour and a half, and as it was it took six hours. That's enough for us.

Here's the route we took...

Yesterday's drive, 520 kms (322 miles).

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is a comfortable car to drive and we got 49 mpg on this all highway trip.

Not the most scenic trip.

They're getting the fields ready for seeding.

Good thing we're not on a sightseeing trip!

But, we did come across a little bit of excitement. Four cars of a freight train had derailed, making a real mess. They had lots of equipment and manpower out cleaning things up...

Scenery along the way.

Highway 37 from Gull Lake to Cabri, Saskatchewan.

So, we've got a few projects to take care of while we're here in town. This is where our residence address is located, and the first order of business it to look after our driver's licence renewals. Then, we're going to do some research into the best way to handle our residence address. They don't make it easy to be a world nomad as a Canadian citizen. We'll update you about this stuff in a future post.

Looking forward to going down to Cabri Park later today to see how they are making out with spring cleanup.

  1. We are also SK residents and full-time nomads, so we are looking forward to your post on how to handle the residence address. It's not easy.

    1. I'm not sure that we are all that further ahead, as you said they don't make it easy.

  2. Taking the back roads is a luxury. Sometimes we can't afford luxuries, but one of the benefits of retirement is that back roads are more often affordable.

    1. We have to agree with you about back roads being a luxury because most people just don't have the time or the desire to travel on the backroads. Not sure that they are more affordable or not but they normally are much more scenic. :-)
