Next stop... who knows?!

Bundy and Joyce are ready to go! And so are we!

I can't believe it took us about three days to get everything cleaned up and ready to go. We were being pretty fussy though... right down to installing shelf liner (mactac?) on the base of most of the shelves and cupboards!

Here's the finished product, ready to hit the road first thing Saturday morning. (It's already 7:00pm Friday night here!)

Everything is in "travel" mode.

Joyce needs some color, doesn't she? There's a little too much woodgrain!

When you are camping and living and traveling in a fairly small rig, it's all about storage and use of space. A place for everything, and everything in it's place!

The steps leading up to the bed actually sit on the bed until bed time. The 160 watt portable solar panel is very efficient at charging the 100Ah house battery, but it's fairly heavy and awkward to be carrying around. It has to sit on the bed because there is nowhere else it can go except the "hallway"!

The table is on a swivel base so that it is out of the way until you need to use it. Then, you swivel it around and there is room for two people to sit on the couch with the table in front of them.

We have two nice camp chairs... one stays on the couch while we're traveling, and one stays in the shower!

Looking back at the entrance (and exit!) door.

Many people use their RV shower as a storage area. And we do too, to a certain extent. But our shower stall is also our bathroom! So we don't keep too much in there except of course the toilet itself!

The only thing I still need to buy that is fairly important is an inverter. We only need it to keep the laptops charged.

For some reason, inverters are a lot more money here than they are in North America. Almost double in most cases. If I had known that ahead of time I would have brought one with me! Even a small 150 watt unit is $60 AUD ($56 CAD, $42 USD). I can buy one in the states for $15 USD!

I've ordered a 300 watt unit from Amazon Australia, but we can't pick it up until it gets delivered to friends late next week. So I've really got no choice but to buy a 150 watt unit in the meantime.

Otherwise... we are ready to go!

Oh... we noticed the other day that we crossed the 5,000 fans mark on Facebook! I remember a few years ago when we crossed the 1,000 fans mark! Wow! We will be posting there regularly if you want to give us a "like".

Sorry we've been lacking with the photos the last couple of days, but we've been busy getting Bundy and Joyce ready to go. I promise, we'll make it up to you over the coming days and weeks!

Next stop... who knows?!

  2. Looking forward to reading your adventures in the coming weeks.
You should just purchase the 300 Watt Inverter instead of having Two in your limited space and save the cost of the 150 Watt unit.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. How would we charge our laptops over the next week or ten days until the Amazon one shows up? Besides, we will keep the smaller one in the cab of the truck.

    2. I know you won't do it But Walmart has a very liberal 90day return policy

    3. Sorry forget that
Walmart's employment practices are illegal in Australia and a lot of other countries. Walmart has no operation in Australia

    4. You are correct, no Walmarts here but they do have other stores that are similar to Walmart. Having said that, we would not return the 150 watt inverter, we would just keep the smaller one in the cab of the truck. It is always good to have a backup one should we ever need it.

  3. I guess there is storage under the bed for your clothes and things?

    1. Nope, no storage under the bed, the cab of the truck sits under the bed.

  4. I'm reading this at 9:30 a.m. Friday so twelve hours later it is 9:30 pm Saturday in Australia! You're on the dark side now. Too bad about not carrying an inverter with you but you bought one so that's good. Looking forward to virtual travel :-) BTW, I received an email saying that I was one of the top fan for Kevin & Ruth and wanted me to display a patch when I make comments. I didn't sign up...thought it might be spam.

    1. Right now we are actually 16 1/2 hours ahead of Arizona.

Yes, it is a shame that we didn't bring an inverter with us but we also weren't aware that the truck camper didn't have one, and that there was such a difference in the pricing for one here compared to back home, oh well life goes on.

It is not spam really, it is something new that facebook is doing but I still wouldn't bother displaying the patch, seems like a waste of time to me.

  5. The rig looks like brand new. With what do you clean the sink that it is soooo shiny?

    1. Well not quite brand new but it does look good now we have things cleaned up and sorted out a bit. I just wiped out the sink, never used anything to actually clean it. I don't think it actually gets used much, instead a dishpan is used to for washing the dishes, that way it can just be carried to an outdoor sink to be emptied. this unit does not have a grey tank for waste water.

  6. Looks very comfortable for two person. I'd love a rainy day in there.

    1. You certainly wouldn't want more than two people in here and on a rainy day I think you would start to get cabin fever. This unit is best used in sunny weather where you can spend the majority of your time outside.
