You may have seen on the news that the Ottawa River has experienced record flooding this spring. The river flows from the north, starting at Lake Timiskaming and then making up the Ontario - Quebec border as it makes its way to the St. Lawrence Seaway at Montreal.
So, because we've been in Ottawa for the past couple of weeks, all you hear about is the flooding.

Looking upriver towards downtown Gatineau, Quebec (on the right side of the bridge).
The Prime Minister's residence in Ottawa.
Looking across to the Catholic Church in Pointe Gatineau, Quebec.
I zoomed in on some of the homes on the opposite side of the river in Quebec...
But, they say now that the water has peaked and has actually dropped a foot or so since the peak. So it seems the worst is over for this year.
Ruth, at the Rockcliffe Park Pavilion.
The Rockcliffe Park neighborhood is well known for having expensive homes and embassy residences. So we went for a walk around to see some of the nice homes.
The U.S. Ambassador's residence in Ottawa.
Just some nice old homes.
Lots of flowers in the park.
From there, we went to my mother's house for lunch. We were a little early, and my mother's building is right across from the river. So we went for another walk to see how high the water was there.
Parts of the bicycle path are just a little washed out.
They could have moved the picnic tables!

Have a seat!
The bike paths goes through here!

Too bad you can only use them six months of the year.
We had a nice lunch with my mom and both my sisters. Not very often we are together all at the same time.
