Fortunately, if we were to slip and fall, the water was only about two feet deep!

There is a trail that goes around the lake here at Eden. Most of it is maintained, but there is a section of about  a kilometer (0.6 miles) where they haven't been able to negotiate with landowners enough to complete the circular route.

We did the trail the other day in the counterclockwise route, and had to negotiate our way through some private property. But we had seen a trail going in the clockwise direction that perhaps avoided that problem.

So we tried that route today...

Our first shot of a kangaroo with a joey in her pouch!

The kangaroos are on the other side of the fence, but they are wild kangaroos... the fence is to keep them out!

Nice views around the lake.

We knew the path only went so far... but we were determined to make our way through the short section where there was no path!

It was not that easy!

Don't slip!

You can do it!

Almost there.

Fortunately, if we were to slip and fall, the water was only about two feet deep!

But we did it.

The route around the lake was about 5 kms (3 miles). Took a little extra time for the obstacles though!

I said I would show you some photos of the "holiday park" where we have been the last four nights. It's not just an RV park... there are cabins for rent and lots of amenities.

They even have a little trampoline park.
Bah... too funny!

Nice park, but we would not want to be here during busy season!

Free dog wash.

Nice and quiet in this are at this time of year.

The wash area.

The laundry room.
With irons and ironing boards!

Trust me, you will not see Ruth using an ironing board!

Playground.

These types of grilles are very popular in Australia.

You see these grilles all over Australia. Some are propane, some are electric. Some are free, some cost a dollar or two. Many are located in public parks.

The camp kitchen, available to all campers, tenting or not.

Comfy chairs and a nice TV.

Even a wood stove to keep warm with.

The swimming pool is ice cold at this time of year!

The grounds are attractive.

This is where we have been parked the last four nights.

And it's been a great stay. But, we are looking forward to getting back to our normal style of RV'ing... never knowing where we are going to be staying from one night to the next!

And in Canada...

  1. Nice campsite. We love it when they have a cosy lounge to use and cooking facilities etc but understand your eagerness to move on and be free camping without other vans around.

    1. It was a nice campground and we really enjoyed our stay at this time of year, not sure we could say the same if it were high season. It was one of the cleanest campground that we have every been in! Yep, we used the lounge a number of times but not the kitchen itself other than making a cup of tea. the area we were in had no other campers around. :-)

    1. We loved that joey too! Now we can stroke another item off our list of things to see in Australia. Now if only we could find a koala with a baby in it's pouch. :-)

Once we moved into our motorhome, I have never wanted to iron again! :-P

  3. Wow, really nice camp site - if they only did things that way in Canada! Love the picture of the kangaroo and joey!

    1. Yep, it was a great campground at this time of year, if it were busy season it would have been feeling very cramped! When we workcamped at the KOA in Kingston, we had to say that it was a very nice park, and very clean with lots of things for kids to do. They even had a pet exercise area but not a dog wash station, this is the first time I have ever seen that at a campground.

That kangaroo and joey were so special to see. :-)

  4. What a great park and for the price! Even if it was full it doesn't seem as cheek to jowl as some of the parks we have seen. We're just happy with Mira River PP because they have free showers and they are really nice and we are paying more than you are!

    1. It was a nice park and because it is the slow season with the special they had going, made it a really good deal for what you got. Yes, it would have been cheek to jowl if it was busy, there really didn't seem to be a lot of room between sites so we are quite happy that it is very quiet at this time of year. We had free showers too, with a heated floor to!. ;-)

    1. Not too many really interesting ones, but there have been a few. We saw our first 5th wheel on the road today though! Travel trailers seem to be the most common form of RVing here.

  6. Nice form on the trampoline, Ruth!

  7. Sure glad for McD WiFi.... such a treat to read this particular blog after a few weeks off. Will binge read to catch up once we get home at the end of the week. That campground would easily be an “RV resort” in the US! Really snazzy! Thanks for the tour and the Kangaroo picture. Loved it!

    1. So glad that you enjoyed the post. Yes, this campground would be a "resort" in the US, I think it is even considered a resort here in Australia. It was a nice campground and we enjoyed our stay but wouldn't want to be in it in the summertime, we think it would be far too crowded and busy for us.

I hope you and Paul are enjoying your trip north through the National Parks, there really are some beautiful ones.
