We didn't have far to travel though... we had our sights set of the town of Eden, and of course the Garden of Eden.
But before we got to the Garden of Eden, we stopped at a day use spot where a river meets the ocean.
Oh, and we are now in the state of New South Wales!
A pied oystercatcher.
So we were parked in this day use area, and the tide was out so we were walking along the sandy part of the river where it meets the ocean. And as I said, the tide was out so the river mouth was actually pretty narrow and there were a few pools of water left behind.
We had walked by one of those pools on our way out, and then twenty minutes later we came by the same pool and Ruth says "Holy cow, what is that?!"
There were hundreds of tiny crabs coming out of the sand and making their way to the pool...
Very strange.
We were only about ten feet away from them, and we stood and watched for a while. We found that if we were really still, they thought we were gone and came back out of the water and hid in the sand again. It was really odd to watch!
I took a video for you...
Next stop was another day use area just outside the town of Eden where we had some lunch and went for a short 3 km (2 mile) hike.
View from our window at lunch time.
Another secluded beach.
Across the bay was this navy ship.
The Garden of Eden Caravan Park that is!
Yes, we are actually paying to stay in an RV Holiday Park.
I've got some internet work to do over the next couple of days, and we needed to be somewhere where we have enough internet and electricity to do what I have to do.
Our site at the Garden of Eden.
It's slow season here, so we chose a site far away from anybody else. We get a powered site and access to all the facilities including the new shower building with heated floors! And the television lounge room and the kitchen lounge room. The park gets great reviews, and it really is quite nice. Of course we'll show you some more photos of the place over the next couple of days.
No, it's not our normal style, but we will treat it as a holiday!
They have a slow season special right now... pay for three nights and stay for four. So after the discount, our cost works out to be $26 AUD ($24 CAD, $18.50 USD) per night.
Sunday's drive, 63 kms (39 miles).

DeleteEnjoy your pampering amenities! I'm sure it's fun for a short-term change.
ReplyDeleteWe are thank you! It is nice for a change, especially when there is hardly anyone here at the moment. :-)
