The view from our breakfast table

We've actually been pretty lazy the last couple of days.

We made our way north back to Bateman's Bay, with a stop at the Botanical Gardens. I (Kevin) didn't find the gardens that interesting, but Ruth said she could have spent a longer time there.

However, we did find a great stop for breakfast.

A couple of wallabies.

They are everywhere!

Having never been to Australia before, we would not have known that kangaroos (and their smaller cousins, the wallabies) are literally everywhere!

In Canada and northern United States, we often see deer hit by vehicles, lying dead at the side of the road.

Well here in Australia, you do NOT see deer lying dead at the side of the road. But, you do see a lot of kangaroos and wallabies. Not very nice... but it's just the way it is.

The view from our breakfast table.

Here's where we had breakfast.

Just another beautiful beach.

Scenery along the way.

Along the way, we saw the sign for the local botanical gardens, so we stopped in there to have a look. I wasn't thrilled, although Ruth said she could have stayed longer.

Eastern yellow robin.

Back at Bateman's Bay where we had been a week or so ago, we did some grocery shopping and some laundry, and then headed back to the place we had camped on the Clyde River back at the time.

Sunset at the Clyde River.

  1. No pictures of the botanical gardens? Maybe Ruth could have spent more time while you did something else :-) I ditched my daughter and her friend in NYC, NY to do my own thing. I did pretty good with bum knee climbing stairs in subways and pounding the cement walks...saw lots of museums and Broadway shows. Walked across the Brooklyn bridge and lots more. My fit bit hit over 20,000 steps each day. You and Ruth, with all that hiking, probably do much more. It's the only thing I regret about aging...can't do a lot of the things I use to.

It's sad to see dead animals on the road. I usually call highway patrol in case there are young ones orphaned. Loving your trip especially when you went inland. Safe travels.

    1. Nope, no pictures of the botanical gardens other than the picture of the Eastern yellow robin. It wasn't a typical botanical garden full of flowers, it was more of an arboretum full a lots of different types of trees local to Australia. Although it was nice, it really wasn't picture worthy at this time of year. I wouldn't have minded staying longer but just to look for different types of birds. We have already seen most of the ones that were in that area already but there are still a couple that we have our eyes peeled for. We did however get about three or so kilometres under our belt walking through the forest.

Yes, it is sad to see but unfortunately that seems to happen a lot here. I would expect that when someone hits a kangaroo, wallaby, wombat or koala that they would stop to check to make sure that there aren't any babies in their pouches, I know we would if that happened to us and they do have a number to call if you spot injured wildlife.

    1. Us too, except that they are all starting to look the same. This has been the longest that we have ever spent near the ocean!
