The kids are kept busy here. In fact, they are at the age where we don't really see them very often throughout the day. Really, only at meal time, and even then Cameron is usually off sitting at a table with his friends.
But that's fine. They are having fun, and it does give Ruth and I a chance to relax as well...
Two of the junior staff took Sadie and Cameron for a canoe ride.
While we sat on the dock waiting for the sun to come out from behind the clouds.
Sadie with her RPC sweatshirt.
After lunch, they announced that the afternoon activity was archery practice. We thought they meant for kids, but it turned out that kids weren't allowed... this is with adult equipment! I used to be pretty good at this, but haven't done it for probably 25 years or more.
Ruth, trying it out.
She needed some instruction.
Me.
By the end of it, I hit the target three times in a row, and even got one bulls eye!

At dusk.

Special memories for the grandchildren! I hope the got to watch the archery.
ReplyDeleteMost definitely, although more than half the time they are off playing with friends that they have met here.
DeleteThey did get to watch the archery but they would rather have tried it out themselves. The staff that was overseeing the archery said that perhaps next year they will purchase smaller and lighter bows so some of the old children can give it a try.
Fun!
ReplyDeleteVery much so! :-)
DeleteLOVELY PLACE ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteWe did and yes, it is a beautiful spot. :-)
DeleteI thought that Golden Lake was familiar. Then I remembered that it was used as a training lake by the RCAF. So I looked in my log book, and there it was, I did awater training exercise there on RCAF Canso #11091 on 18 May 1955. I remember it as a beautiful lake.
ReplyDeleteVery cool and even more so because you still have your log books from so long ago. It is a beautiful lake. One time when we came up to Red Pine Camp we borrowed my dad's motorboat and brought it up to the lake with us and actually went for a ride around the perimeter of the lake. It is much bigger than I thought it was.
