Home renovations in Ottawa

We are pretty proud of our daughter Lindsey and her husband Justin. They are finally going out on their own in the business world and he is going to work for himself. It's a big step to give up a regular steady income when you've got a mortgage and bills and a young family to support. I remember doing that myself when I was at that stage in life. It's very exciting, but you're a little nervous at the same time!

He's going into partnership with a good friend of his (also named Kevin!) who he has been working with for the past several years at a major Ottawa construction company.

They do really nice work and I wanted to show you some of the stuff that they do. Real craftsmen when it comes to construction and woodworking.

Custom made desk.

Before and after porch.

Furniture restoration. Before.

After.

But, they also do any type of home renovation work including framing and drywall.

They even do all the finishing work.

Before and after new windows.

They aren't going to hire anybody. Between the two of them, they can do anything from concrete to fine woodworking. And this way, the customer deals directly with the guys doing the work.

Here's a big job they did...

And Justin even built us a new table for our motorhome a couple of years ago!

It won't take long for word to spread. When you do nice work at a fair price people tend to tell their friends.

Capital Craftsmen Inc. 613-514-0270 (phone operational on Monday September 30th.)

I know that there are some people in the Ottawa area who read this blog, so don't hesitate to spread the word.

  1. That is the kind of work you can take pride in for its own sake, not just for the money it brings in.

  2. Good craftsmen have no problem finding work. Our brother in law had his own wood working company and because he was so good at what he did he couldn't keep up. Your reputation precedes you. Good for your family!

    1. That is what we have been telling our son-in-law for years now. We are so happy to see that he and his friend are finally going out on their own. I doubt they will need to do any paid advertising as their name will just get passed around through word of mouth because of the quality work that they do. :-)

  4. It is rare to find both a construction person and a craftsman in one company. Usually they do one or the other. They should try and hook up with high end decorators :)

    1. My dad was also both a construction person and a craftsman, and yes, it is definitely not as common.

Maybe they will down the road, once there name gets out there. They will most likely get a number of people approach them to try and work in conjunction with each other.

  5. Too bad they're so far away! :) Wishing the best of luck but doesn't look like they'll need it.
