A couple of years ago, we spoke to Kimberly in depth about our RV lifestyle because she thought she might be interested in doing the same thing. But she ended up taking a different path.
She decided to travel inexpensively by doing house sitting. She quit her job, rented out her own house, and took off!
She has since spent extended time house sitting in Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama, Thailand, and for several people here in eastern Ontario and she has also hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
And co-incidentally, she has a house sit scheduled for Ecuador in November and of course we are going to be there for three weeks prior to that.
She is currently doing a house sit near Galetta, and that's where we went for lunch.

It's a beautiful home.. and it's for sale if anybody has $650,000 to spare!
So, it was great getting caught up with her. Unfortunately we couldn't really compare notes on Ecuador because we don't really have any yet! Other than booking a week in Quito, we have not done any research at all into our upcoming trip. Guess we'll have to get to that soon.
After lunch, we went and visited with Ruth's dad for an hour, then back to Galetta where we did our 45 minute 5 km (3 mile) power walk.

They're calling for rain this afternoon, and the grass needs cutting here so I need to get it done before lunch!

And in Canada...
What a neat path she took. Does she blog?
ReplyDeleteNo, she has thought about it, but doesn't like to be stuck to a computer very much.
DeleteDoes Kimberly have a travel blog? Her travels sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteAs Kevin mentioned above, no she doesn't have a blog but now that a couple of people have asked about it, she just might start one. Her travels are interesting. :-)
DeleteCan anyone recommend some good house sitting websites? Thanks
ReplyDeletehttps://www.trustedhousesitters.com/
DeleteThat may be our next chapter. I have been doing a lot of research on trusted housesitters and it definitely seems like a great way to see the world. But for now we will stick to the RV and travel with our pets. Except for a 6 month pause this winter in Sackville, NB.
ReplyDeleteIt maybe our next chapter as well! We have done a couple of housesits before back in 2009-10 and 2012 and I know that we would enjoy doing more. And yes, we think that Trusted Housesitters is probably the best and most reliable site for housesitting.
DeleteOur son did some wonderful house sits in Ecuador. He is also on Trusted Housesitters.
ReplyDeleteWho knows maybe Kimberly will be housesitting at the same place that your son has sat for in the past.
