The calendar is filling up!

We've been here for two weeks now, and have just over one month to go. Time is going by quickly though, and the calendar is filling up.

Had an old friend over for dinner last night. My accountant from my collision repair shop days. He's 99% retired now, but we still try to see him every couple of years.

One of the things we are doing during our time here is some financial and estate planning. We're also changing banks and getting the best credit card for our needs. These things aren't easy to do when you're out traveling! And dealing with Ruth's father's situation gives us some impetus to get our own affairs in order, including updating our wills. More about that another day.

Today, I'm driving down to Morrisburg to see another old friend. I'll probably spend the night, so Ruth is going to stay here on her own.

In fact, we've got something on the calendar for each of the next five days!

And then the next weekend, we have bought tickets to a horse show that includes  a display put on by Canada's RCMP Musical Ride. Our daughter and the grandkids are going as well so that should be fun. I better have my camera back by then!

Speaking of which... I checked the online service portal and it is showing as "approved", whatever that means.

Bright sunny day so far out there... better get out and get our power walk done!

  1. Was wondering if you do any kind of rewards credit card. We use MC and collect Air Miles which over the years has worked well for us. The camera you are looking at is listed as an Air Miles reward at the present time. Just a thought.

    1. Yes, we do have a couple of rewards credit cards one being an Amex and the other is our TD Travel Visa and we have had a lot of "free" flights because of them over the years. However as Kevin mentioned below actually buying a product like the camera is the most inefficient use of our hard earned points, it is better to buy the product on sale and just use the points towards actual flights.

  2. The Nikon P900 is listed for 8500 air miles.

    1. Air miles are typically valued at between 10 to 12 cents each. So the 8500 air miles price is pretty high.

  3. Estate planning is so important - and also to review every few years as situations change, both with you and your kids.

    1. You are totally right, it is important and it needs to be reviewed every few years and we have neglected that. At least we had a will, there are lots of people out there that don't even have that done. It will feel good to know that we will have all this done before leaving on our trip south this winter. :-)
