Never say never!

We had a rain day yesterday. A huge storm front went through much of northwestern Mexico yesterday. We woke up to a heavy steady rainfall on Wednesday morning and it continued all day and into the evening. No idea when it stopped but we woke up at about 4:00am and noticed that it was windy, but no more rain.

It had been forecast though, so we knew it was coming. We've adjusted our schedule accordingly.

We are finally caught up on our blog posts! If you missed the last two about the Copper Canyon Train Ride, you can get them here...

Copper Canyon Train Day 1

Copper Canyon Train Day 2

One of the other reasons for taking the group to Copper Canyon is to do the world's 2nd longest zipline. And so it would be a shame to leave here without doing it. As such, we are going to stay here at Creel for an extra day, and celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving with a pot luck dinner at the conference building at the facilities here.

Then hopefully tomorrow (Friday), we will move about an hour down the road to the canyon rim and park there for a couple of nights. This should give us an opportunity on Saturday to do some hiking in the canyon, plus do the zipline and gondola.

This will put us a little behind our original schedule, but we purposely built in some flexibility for occasions like this.

I had downloaded the movie "Blueberry" (also called "Renegade") and we asked in the bar area if we could use their big screen television to play it for the group. Not a very good movie, but it was fun looking for the filming locations that we had seen when we were at Rancho San Lorenzo near Basaseachi Falls. A good rainy day activity!

After the movie, we celebrated Ruth's birthday.

Happy Birthday Ruth!

Nothing more Mexican than a bottle of Kahlua and a flan for your birthday!

Sue did a great job cooking up a couple of flans for the group. Delicious, thank you Sue!

In other news...

We have been invited back to work at Cabri Regional Park in Saskatchewan. This is the park that we managed for four summers in a row from 2014 to 2017. However, we will not be managing the park. We are close to making an agreement to come back in a reduced role... training, helping, and overseeing the new managers from May 1st through the beginning of August. Approximately three months.

We didn't expect to be going back to work there... but never say never!

Still a few things to work out with them, but we are fairly confident that we can come to an agreement.

Then, we will have to work out the logistics of whether or not we bring Sherman there. But we've got lots of time to figure that out.

The rain has stopped this morning, and we've even seen the sun peeking through the clouds. But it's cool and windy. Calling for a high of 12C (54F).

That would be nice if you stopped by at Cabri Park while we are there.

Hope you and all our RV friends in La Penita had a good Thanksgiving too.

    1. We did the zipline as well when we were here almost 5 years ago, it was a blast. It is one of the reasons that we have been hanging around Creel, waiting for the weather to imporove. It is supposed to be much nicer tomorrow, we just have to hope that it isn't too windy.

    1. Thank you very much Taylore!

You are so right right about letting go of what holds you back, and just getting out there and doing things rather than dreaming of them. Life is better when you make your life simple, at least for us it is. :-)

    1. Thank you Emily! Yes, I had a great day and the flan was delicious, one of my favourite desserts. The Kahula is a nice evening drink, that will take me a while to get through. The group was wonderful to me, so happy to have them all along for the journey with us this winter. :-)
