Last day in Valle de Bravo... out on the lake!

Yesterday was a free day with nothing official planned for the group. I spent the morning puttering around Sherman checking the tire pressure and then cleaning out some of the lower compartments and my tool box... just generally straightening things up.

For lunch, we went up to a taco joint down the road. Sammy's... some of the group had gone there last year and enjoyed it, and some had already gone this year but Ruth and I had never been.

I can see why they liked it...

I had a flauta con papas.

Ruth had two bistec tacos con papas.

Delicious.

As soon as we got back to the marina, our host Chago offered to take us sailing. Chago has been around sailboats at this lake his entire life and he is a very good sailor.

Seven of us went out on the lake for a three hour tour. A three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough.... ha... just kidding.

But, we were on the lake for almost three hours.

Getting ready to head out.

Denise found her spot for the day.

Larry, Ruth, Captain Chago, Roger.

Scenery along the way.

Expensive lakeside home.

Aron and Owenita enjoying the ride.

A hotel.

The expensive homes on La Peña.

Me, enjoying the day!

Nice flowers.

Ruth liked this place.

Ha!

Toluca volcano in the distance.

Beautiful afternoon on the lake!

But, our time here has come to an end. This morning we are driving to the south part of Cuernavaca. Mostly on toll roads today... it's a 195 km (121 mile) drive and we have to go between Toluca and Mexico City. We've been to this area before, and it's one of the times that it's worth it to spend the extra money on the toll roads.

  1. Not much property on some of those expensive homes. I guess the lake is the attraction!

    1. Nope there isn't, but then most of these homes are just weekend/holiday getaways so they really don't need to have lots of room. They definitely have lots of patio space to sit out and entertain as they enjoy they gorgeous view of the lake.

  3. Very nice of Chago to take you around the lake. Some very expensive homes along that lake. I hope they are owned by Mexicans and not rich foreigners.

    1. Yes, it was very nice of him. I think he enjoyed it as much as us and also used it as an excuse to go out and sail. :-)

Oh yes, these will be owned by Mexicans, we would highly doubt if a handful of those homes are even owned by foreigners, this is definitely not an expat area.

  4. Some of those homes rival Billy Gate's home on Lake Washington...I worked on it years ago...Geez..over 25 years ago..."Time"******Zing!****

    1. I don't think any of these house are quite as big as Bill Gate's. Some are several houses all built together and sold like condos, or they are rented out.

That job would have been interesting I am sure! Hard to believe that was 25 years ago, I remember hearing all about that house back then and how much it cost to build.

  5. Sure brought back memories of our time at the lake last year especially when Capitan Chago had to find a place where I could relieve myself! Hahaha. Looks like you even had a better day for sailing too and more time on the lake. I recall Chago had to cut short the tour as the weather was changing... I think the wind was starting to calm down. How lucky for you all to have a great day and sail!

    1. It is always a fun time out on the lake in Chago's sailboat! I am not sure that we had a better day out there than we did last year, we still lacked wind at times. At one point the wind totally disappeared and Chago had to call for Isidro to bring the out a boat to pull us in but when Isidro arrived the wind picked back up a bit so he sent him back to the marina and we were able to make it back under sail.
