Time to hit the road!

Sunday morning, most of us decided to go to La Cocinita for breakfast. It's a popular spot and we've been here for two weeks now and still hadn't made it over there.

We arrived at about 9:00am to find that a large group had taken over most of the tables. Still, half of us managed to get seated and served, while the other half had to wait another 45 minutes or so.

But it didn't matter. After all, we have lots of time!

The people at our table all ordered huevos rancheros, some of us con tocino... fried eggs served in a spicy sauce with beans and bacon. Oh... and a big delicious glass of fresh squeezed orange juice!

Huevos rancheros.

Always a good breakfast there. And for 70 pesos ($4.80 CAD, $3.70 USD) each, orange juice included.

We planned a decent hike for the morning as well, but because of the late breakfast we didn't get going until almost noon. Five of us set out for a 9 km (5.5 mile) walk.

But before we left, we had to check the repair on Garth's rig. He took it for a test drive, and unfortunately there was another pinhole leak in the oil cooling line. We put some more JB Weld on it, and we are now pretty confident that it will hold until a more permanent repair can be made.

That is a big cactus!

Notice the nice blue sky?

Burro with an old wooden saddle.

Church and plaza in the tiny farming village of La Manzanilla.

Coming back downhill.

It was a nice walk, just about right what we were looking for at two hours or so.

Spent an hour or so emptying the holding tanks, filling the fresh water tank, checking the oil and other fluid levels and tire pressure and packing up the outdoor mat and tables. We have now been here for two solid weeks... likely the longest stop on the trip!

But, it's time to hit the road. Monday morning, we have an 8:00am start!

We were just sitting down to happy hour when Heinz and Ulli stopped by. Unfortunately Heinz felt like he is coming down with a cold or something, so they didn't hang around. But we enjoyed spending some time with them over the past two weeks and we look forward to when we meet again... maybe on Pelee Island in late summer!

Also at happy hour, our host Chema stopped by with his son Christian and granddaughter Victoria to say goodbye. Victoria brought her new puppy!

And Roger grinning in the background!

And so, today we move on. We loved our time here in Valle de Juarez, but even when we love a place it is eventually time to move on. We are looking forward to showing the group some more of what we love about Mexico!

    1. In Canada or the US the big glass of freshly squeezed orange juice would have cost that much alone. Have we mentioned how much we love Mexico, lol! :-)

  3. We are still following your adventures, and enjoying your beloved Mexico.
I have used Magic Wrap on high pressure, high temperature leaks on lines successfully. It is commonly available at most hardware (Walmart, Home Depot, CT type) stores everywhere in Canada. Should be available in Mexico as well, knowing how industrious Mexican are. Good luck and happy and safe travels.

    1. Thank you for continuing to follow along on our adventures, we appreciate it. :-)

We are a step ahead of you on the high pressure tape. We carry it around with us and so does at least one other rig in our group. And that is exactly what they did yesterday morning before we left. Once the epoxy dried they wrapped the pipe with the tape just to give it added strength and protection and it seems to have worked perfectly because Garth never had a problem on yesterday's drive.

  4. Little Victoria and her puppy are adorable. I've never tried huevos rancheros in my life. I always hesitate although it does look good.

  5. P.S. I once used my panty hose to stop a radiator hose leak in Mohave desert on way to Phoenix. It worked!!!

    1. We are having a fantastic time and so is everyone else in the group.

Nope, it is hard to beat the price on that breakfast especially with the big glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. It was a delicious breakfast and we didn't need any lunch that day.
