5 Awesome Things to Do on a Countryside Getaway

Sometimes we need a break from our busy lives, and a great way to do this is an action-packed, countryside getaway. Perhaps you live in the city and are dying to connect with nature, or maybe you spent lots of time in nature as a child and want to relive those memories.

Whatever the reason, a vacation in the countryside is a great way to destress and have fun. If you’re planning your getaway and need some ideas of what to do in the middle of nowhere, here are five awesome activities to keep you busy!

Camping

If you haven’t already booked your accommodation for the trip, why not consider checking into a campsite? Not only is camping much cheaper than other accommodation options, but it is also the best way to become at one with nature on your countryside getaway.

Opting to camp is also an awesome activity in itself. There is much to be enjoyed in camping: building your living space, making s’mores, stargazing in the evenings, and waking up under canvas.
Even if you’ve got a holiday rental booked, why not pick up some basic camping gear and spend one night under the stars?

Biking

If your perfect countryside getaway would be filled with action and adventure, going on a bike ride or two is the perfect activity to keep you busy. Not only will you get loads of exercise and feel great at the end of your ride, but you’ll also get to feel the wind in your hair while you experience nature in a brand-new way.

If you want to make your rides a little easier, or you’d like to take on more challenging terrains, riding an electric bike will take the edge off so that you can focus on the joy of riding. If you’re interested in an e-bike that can handle all terrains, take a look at what Rungu has to offer.

Nature Trail

Biking is lots of fun, but you may be looking for something a little more leisurely. If this is the case, finding a nearby nature trail and taking a relaxing walk through the trees is another great way to exercise during your trip.

Taking this slower route of exploring nature, you will have time to appreciate every animal you happen upon, whether that be birds, deer, rabbits, or more. This activity is especially good if you have kids in your party as they’ll have lots of fun identifying and keeping a log of all of the animals they spot.

Geocaching

In case you haven’t heard of it, geocaching is essentially the twenty-first century’s answer to the treasure hunt. Using a GPS, or Global Positioning System receiver, a group of people can set out to find a ‘geocache’. This is usually a small container that can hold, well, essentially anything if it follows the guidelines.

But what’s inside the cache isn’t that important – or, usually, that exciting. What is important, however, is that you and your group have lots of fun along the way.

Cozy Days In

One of the main reasons many of us visit the countryside for our vacations is to experience the serenity and quiet. While it is tempting to fill every single day with exciting activities likes the ones above, it can also be nice to slow down for a while.

If you get a rainy day while you are away on your trip, take the opportunity to have a cozy day inside. Finding out some board games or watching one of your favorite movies can be just as much fun as the exhilarating bike ride or animal-spotting adventure you had the day before.

Whether you’re escaping to the country for some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of the city or to find your next great adventure, these awesome activities are sure to make the most of your rural getaway.
