We are moving on today one way or the other. We filled up with cheapest ever propane at $0.99 a gallon. Sherman has a big 20 gallon propane tank, but it's a shame we only needed 11 gallons to top it up!
We also filled up with gasoline, although at $2.09 USD per gallon ($0.75 CAD per liter) that's the second highest we've paid since we've been in the states.
And, we had showers and emptied the holding tanks and filled the fresh water tank and did a grocery shop. I think we're ready to go! Oh, and we did laundry too!
In between the rain, we still managed to get out for a short hike. While we were parked at the laundry place, we walked though the University grounds and hiked up the hill to the big "M".
You can see how steep the hill is that we are climbing.
Fortunately it's not straight up... there are switchbacks.
View of Missoula, Montana.
Looking east.
Downtown Missoula.
Nice enough for a small city. Still too much traffic though. The city itself is smaller in size than Kingston, Ontario, and when we lived in Kingston for a few months back in 2010, one of the problems there was also too much traffic.
We're going to head sort of northwest from here and then circle back towards Glacier Park. The park is not fully open, so we won't be able to enjoy it the way we wanted to, and you still can't exit on the eastern side of the park. But we should be able to get out for a hike and get some photos. That's still a couple of days away though.
We also managed to get in a Zoom call with Ruth's father. The care home set it up, and we talked for 15 or 20 minutes. Fortunately, he seems to be doing better than we expected, so that's a good thing.

A bit of a price drop on the blue color of the well rated GCI Outdoor Folding Rocking Chair. Not a huge deal, but they don't come on sale very often.
And in Canada...
I ordered through the link 2 chairs. I've always wanted to do this, and am happy to assist by doing this. I have been wanting the chair(s) for a while. They are so comfortable. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank very much for ordering through our link, we appreciate it. We hope that you will enjoy the chairs. :-)
DeleteWhen we were in Montana last year we visited Garnet Ghost Town which is about 30 miles east of Missoula. Great place to take in some history of the area and how they lived. Great place to visit. Be aware that if you do go, there are two ways in, one is up a winding, steep road, definitely not Sherman friendly. The other route is. You should check the website to be sure.
ReplyDeleteWe passed by the turnoff to Garnet Ghost Town, we did think about it quickly but decided to pass on it as it was a fair distance in off the road and we hadn't done the research into what the road conditions would have been like for Sherman. Not sure if that was the good way in you are talking about or not though. Thanks for the suggestion though, that certainly is the type of thing we love to explore around. :-)
