Quarantine Day 4

We will be free as of 6:30am on Saturday August 8th.

So, 10 days to go. And so far, we're totally fine. The only thing we miss is our daily 45 minute 5 km (3 mile) power walk that we normally do when we're staying here.

There is lots for us to do here though. And, it's a pleasant change for us to have an unlimited source of internet like most people normally do.

I used the internet to find us some transportation for the next two months. It's really tough to get a decent deal on a car rental right now, and I've been looking for a deal for the last two or three months. The best I could do was $730 CAD ($546 USD) per month for a two month period. I've booked it, but as with most car rentals I can cancel and rebook without cost if anything better comes along, and of course I will continue to look every day.

This is the view across the street from Ruth's dad's house.
No, I didn't leave the property in order to take the photo!

The back yard after a little rain shower this morning.

There is a steady supply of outdoor work that needs to be done.

It reminds me of why we don't miss owning a house! But it's a fine diversion for us while we visit the area, and if we have to be stuck in one place, this is not a bad place to be.

Ruth is enjoying having an oven to use again, and made some delicious double chocolate chip cookies yesterday. And a yummy lasagna the day before. The leftovers for lunch tasted just as good!

Yesterday, we spent a good part of the day cleaning out the motorhome. It has not been completely emptied out since we moved into it 13 years ago! And yes, we came across a few things that made us say "why are we carrying that around??"

I also removed the bike rack. It also hasn't been removed for 13 years. In fact, I couldn't remove it! It was not in very good shape anymore, so when I had to take a hack saw to it, I didn't feel that bad. Part of it is still seized into the hitch receiver, so I've still got some work to do. Not quite sure how it's going to come out!

Looks like the start of a nice day today... a comfortable high of 27C (81F) with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.

  1. Nice little place to hunker down for sure! I hope Sherman sells quickly and you can move on from there. Priced well for sure, you should have no problems.

    1. Yes, it is a nice place to hunker down and there is a lot of work for us to do. First though we have to get Sherman emptied out and cleaned up from top to bottom. We hope that he will sell quickly too but we aren't working too hard on that part yet because we can't have anyone here to look at him until our quarantine is over.

We think he is priced right, I guess time will tell.

    1. They are very healthy looking aren't they. My mother always had a beautiful garden and these would have be remnants of that garden. :-)

    1. Thanks Chris! If we ever get that feeling to own a house again, we just need to look after someone's for a little while and then that feeling will quickly go away. :-)

  4. Ruth's dad's yard is absolutely charming! I wouldn't mind hunkering down there for awhile. :)

    1. Thank you Emily! It used to look even better when my Mum was looking after the garden but it is now starting to look much better once again. Definitely lots of work to be done here, so yes it is a good place to do our quarantine time. :-)
