Chester is almost 4 years old, but he's still just a big puppy. And he loves me, and won't leave me alone!
And he's so big and strong that he doesn't realize his own strength. So when he comes over to try to lick me to death with his tail wagging furiously, his tail knocks down anything that he passes in the process!
He's such a big lovable goof. With big slobbery jowls.
He's good to take for walks though, and he listens really well. And he has no problem keeping the pace on our 5 km (3 mile) power walks.
Chester, taking Ruth for a walk.
C'mon Grandma... pick up the pace!
Chester likes to cuddle up on the couch.
He put his head on my lap when he went to sleep. His head probably weighs 35 lbs!
Rainy Saturday morning.
It was pouring rain Saturday morning, and we took him out in the rain, but we were lucky and it held off while we were out. Ended up taking our rain coats off, but it was still pretty cool.
Back at the house, we received a message from Lindsey saying that Cameron woke up with a stomach bug and they were cutting the camping trip short. Cameron would stay home with Justin, but Lindsey and Sadie would come up to pick up Chester later in the day and stay for supper with us.
Also, it was Sadie's 7th birthday. So Ruth baked Sadie's favorite... black forest cupcakes.
Sadie, opening her birthday card.
Sadie and Lindsey.
Lindsey's cupcake looks the way it's supposed to, but Sadie wanted extra whipping cream so you can't even see hers!
Yummy, thanks Grandma!
Playing with her new Lego set.
The rain and clouds have moved on, and it looks like we're in for a couple of sunny pleasant days with highs around 21C (70F).

Beautiful family time!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was! We were missing Cameron and Justin though.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Sadie! Sorry your birthday camping trip got cut short. Your Lego toys turned out great.
ReplyDeleteAbout the coins, my kids also received "special" coins from their Grandpa that they still have. They can always cash them in in a dire emergency. Maybe you could pick out some nice ones for your dad to give to the grandkids & great-grandkids to keep.
Thank you for Sadie's birthday wishes, we will pass them along to her. She was sad that they had to leave their camping trip early but I think her afternoon/evening made up for it.
DeleteShe loves Lego just like her brother. This Lego kit that she bought with her birthday money is much bigger than what you see in the picture above. That was only a small part of the set that she managed to do while she was here visiting with us. When we go to their place next we will try to remember to take a picture of the set when it is totally completed.
That is definitely an idea to think about with the coins. Thanks for the suggestion.
Great dog! Our son had a large dog once and when he or I took him for a walk we almost got pulled off our feet, we never walked fase enough for him! But when the 50 pound granddaughters took him for a walk he never pulled, there was always slack in the leash. He knew what he could get away with!
ReplyDeleteChester is really good that way with Sadie too but he is also good that way with whoever is walking him. He does not pull very much at all and if I pick up my pace then he matches it but he is never pulling so hard that he is dragging me along.
DeleteDogs know good people! We could go for some of Ruth's protein bars!
ReplyDeleteYou are correct they really do know people!
DeleteI haven't made my granola bars for quite a long time, maybe it's time for me to make a batch. :-)
