And we feel like we've got a lot accomplished already, but when we look around there is still sooo much to do. And we're only here for another 7 weeks. Not rushing things by any means, but it will be October before we know it!
The plan is to have this place sold and out of our hair by late next spring or early summer. In order to do that, there is still so much to do. In fact, some of it seems a bit overwhelming. But, we are slowly picking away at things and we are seeing some progress.
Ruth is still working on getting the garden up to par. We've had pretty good weather, so that's the time to do it. They're calling for some rain over the next 48 hours (we'll see... they haven't been very accurate lately!) and there is a lot of indoor stuff that needs to be done as well.
Yesterday, I worked on the basement for a couple of hours. I brought up 3 big boxes of left over house paint. I'm not even going to open the cans to see what is good and what isn't. Most of it has been sitting for at least 15 years, and I noticed that many of the cans were less than half full. It can all go to the old paint return bin at Home Depot.
But there is soooo much stuff down there. Wine making kits, 30 (or 40?) year old camping gear. Anybody want an antique Coleman stove? We need to sort through it all and save what might sell for the auction next spring, and trash the obvious garbage. I worked for two hours up and down the stairs and I don't feel like I even made a dent in it!
And not only are we sorting through her father's stuff, but we need to totally get rid of our stuff. We don't have a lot, but it needs to be all gone by the time we leave here in October.
Didn't take any photos yesterday. So here's a lion for you...
Taken in Namibia, Africa in November, 2013.

OHHHH!What a beautiful picture of a lion! was that taken from a vehicle or during a hike?! How far was he?!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was taken from our truck in Etosha National Park where you are only allowed out of your vehicle in special fenced in areas. We figure that he was probably about 60 metres (200 ft) away.
DeleteAmazing how we collect things over a year let alone what a house that has gathered things for the last twenty some years.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy your accomplishment.
It's about time.
In this case try over 50 years, not 20 years and my dad saved lots of things! We will have no problems keeping ourselves busy over the coming 7 weeks.
DeleteKevin.... I'd love to have the Coleman stove, I still restore the older Coleman products and the stove would complete my collection.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you live? We don't even know if it works and if it does we know someone who may be interested in it.
