Things continue to improve

Yesterday was another lock down day and we didn't leave the apartment. But, we have our freedom back for the next three days until the four day New Years lockdown happens here in Turkey. While Christmas is not a big deal here, New Year's Eve normally is. It's going to be tough to get out and do anything though over the next three days. We have an eye doctor appointment at 11:00am today, and then it's supposed to rain for almost 24 hours through to Tuesday afternoon.

And then of course Wednesday is eye surgery number two! Of course Wednesday is supposed to be a beautiful day. We don't know at what time yet though, so we're hoping it will be in the afternoon so that we can get out and do something Wednesday morning.

What we call "our good eye" (the one that was operated on last Friday) continues to improve. Ruth's progress seems to have overtaken mine now... she doesn't need her glasses at all to do computer work, and that's just with the one eye done.  She's really looking forward to having the second one done now!

And mine doesn't seem to have improved much between yesterday and today. But I'm sure he will give us more information at our appointment today.

By the way, the surgeon phoned us at home yesterday (on a Sunday!) to check and see how we were doing. As we've said before, we are really pleased with this doctor. We feel like we are his only patients, which of course we are not. But I bet he makes all of his patients feel this way.

We did a zoom call with my mother and my sisters and my nephew and our son and his girlfriend and our daughter and the grandkids. It was a lot of fun. Then we did a video call with Ruth's brother and his wife. So nice to have the technology to be able to keep in touch with everyone.

We paid for an extension on our apartment here in Antalya. We were originally supposed to vacate December 29th, but we are really happy with the place so we have extended to January 8th. And we may end up staying right through until we head back to Fethiye on January 17th.

In other news, countries around the world continue to change and adapt their rules regarding Covid. It will be very interesting to see where things stand three months from now when we attempt to get into Germany. Only time will tell.

Turkey has tightened visitor rules as of today and now requires a negative PCR test prior to entry. There are now only seven countries in the world that have no entry restrictions at all... Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Tanzania, Albania, North Macedonia, and Dominican Republic.

That's all for now. We are off to our doctor's appointment and will update you again tomorrow!

    1. The doctor says that we are healing nicely and that our eyes checked out well. Tomorrow we get the other eye done, we are very excited about it. :-)

  2. Sounds like you got a very competent eye doctor! I believe you trust your instincts! I was a Army Medic, and a Paramedic. I know a good doctor when I see one.

    1. We definitely do have a good doctor/surgeon. We are very pleased with him and would highly recommend him if anyone wanted to have this procedure done here in Antalya. Yep, you have to trust your instincts for sure and first impressions also have a lot to do with our decisions, no matter what they concern.

  3. Good news on the recovery. Nothing like personal attention from the doctor. He seems like a great one.

    1. Our "new" eyes are amazing, we are so happy we made the decision to go ahead with the procedure and yes, our doctor has been fantastic throughout the whole process. He explains everything in terms that we understand and is doing regular checkups with us, even with a phone call on a Sunday. We couldn't ask for better! :-)
