We will soon be back to exploring...without glasses!

I know that this eye surgery stuff has been taking up a lot of our daily activities for the past two weeks. But it's almost over! By next Monday we will be back to our normal programming showing you some more of the sights of Turkey.

An interesting thing has happened since we stopped posting to Facebook. Now, maybe it's a combination of factors, since it seems that many of you have been interested our progress with this eye surgery, but our daily readership has actually increased since stopping the Facebook posts.

It could be that many people who used to glance at our FB posts never actually visited the blog. And of course that benefits FB more than it does us. But there were perhaps some people who now visit the blog because they don't ge that small tidbit of info from FB. Who knows, but I think it's interesting.

So, yesterday morning we had the second eye surgery done. It went well, except that I felt I experienced more pain than the first time.

This morning, I was told that I could remove the eye patch, and if I felt it was okay, I could drive us to our 9am appointment at the doctors office. So that's what I did.

In fact this time, the sight out of my second eye didn't seem nearly as cloudy as it did after I had removed the patch from the first eye. A little fuzzy, but now that my first eye is back close to where it should be, I felt I was fine to drive.

At the doctors office, he removed the suture he had put in yesterday, and explained why I had felt more pain during the surgery. Because of the infection that had been in my eyelid (which had totally cleared up), he was not able to put a full dose of anesthetic where he normally would have. He said there are technical reasons behind that, which if he would have explained we wouldn't have understood anyhow. I'm okay with that. I totally trust his judgement.

He did some more tests and inspection and explained our eye drops routine for the next while. We have appointments again on Monday afternoon.

If this eye heals on the same timeframe as the first one, I think that by Monday we will both be very, very pleased with the results! As it is, I can use the computer, and even my phone without any problem. It will only get better. In fact, not only am I pleased, I am thrilled!

We went for a short walk after we left the doctor's office.

The rain has stopped and it's going to be a nice day.

A local park.

It's market day near our apartment, so we are off to do some grocery shopping for the three day weekend lockdown!

Happy New Year!

    1. I am not sure quite what you mean but if she is going through a link on facebook that would bring her to our blog or anyone else's then she would see exactly what you would see just going straight to the blog through the browser.

Happy New Year to you both and wishing you all the best in 2021.

  4. Hi.

    Happy New Year.

I have told my friend about your eye surgery and he would be very interested if you could message me the name of the Doctor. Great it’s gone well for you both.

Looks a interesting place to holiday in.

    1. Thank you Nora and Happy New Year and to you as well, we also wish you the best in 2021.

Kevin will do a more detailed post giving all the pertinent information on the doctor but his name is Dr. Dr. Ferşat Muhacir and here is his website https://www.fersatmuhacir.com. If you need more info than that just let us know. If your friend calls the office just let them know that he only speaks English and they will put him over to the doctor himself. We also recommend that your friend allows at least three weeks if he decides that we wants to go ahead with the procedure. The original eye hospital that we went to didn't seem to care it was more or less in and out and send you on your way but this doctor wants to keep an eye on you for a couple of weeks after to surgery to make sure there no issues arise after the surgery.
